    Abstract: An apparatus to facilitate hardware enhancements for double precision systolic support is disclosed. The apparatus includes matrix acceleration hardware having double-precision (DP) matrix multiplication circuitry including a multiplier circuits to multiply pairs of input source operands in a DP floating-point format; adders to receive multiplier outputs from the multiplier circuits and accumulate the multiplier outputs in a high precision intermediate format; an accumulator circuit to accumulate adder outputs from the adders with at least one of a third global source operand on a first pass of the DP matrix multiplication circuitry or an intermediate result from the first pass on a second pass of the DP matrix multiplication circuitry, wherein the accumulator circuit to generate an accumulator output in the high precision intermediate format; and a down conversion and rounding circuit to down convert and round an output of the second pass as final result in the DP floating-point format.

    Abstract: A system for minimizing the effect of null zones in an interrogation zone of a marker detection system. The system includes a reference antenna system configured to produce a first reference electromagnetic field during a first time period. The antenna system also includes a phase canceling antenna system configured to produce a second electromagnetic field substantially in phase with the reference electromagnetic field during the first time period and a third electromagnetic field substantially out of phase with the reference electromagnetic field during the first time period. The phasing of the first field or the second and third fields may be continuously switched while the phase of the other is held constant. A method of spatially shifting null zones in an interrogation zone of a marker detection system is also provided.

    Abstract: A portable telephone answering device which fits over the cradle of a telephone handset and receives the handset with a speaker adjacent the handset microphone and a microphone adjacent the handset speaker. An outgoing message can be recorded on one track of a multi-channel loop of tape. When ringing is detected, the telephone plungers are released and the outgoing message played. Next the unit records an incoming message on another track. A metallic splice on the loop serves as a reference. The number of channels on which an incoming message has been recorded are counted and the count incremented only if audio signals are detected indicating a message was left.

    Abstract: An apparatus for measuring the effectiveness of stray light suppression light shields and baffle arrangements used in optical space experiments. The light shield and baffle arrangement and a telescope model are contained in a vacuum chamber. A source of short, high-powered light energy illuminates portions of the light shield and baffle arrangement and reflects a portion of same to a photomultiplier tube by virtue of multipath scattering. The resulting signal is transferred to time-channel electronics timed by the firing of the high energy light source allowing time discrimination of the signal thereby enabling the light scattered and suppressed by the model to be distinguished from the walls and holders around the apparatus.
