  • Publication number: 20230342355
Abstract: Techniques are described herein for an integrated in-front database cache (“IIDC”) providing an in-memory, consistent, and automatically managed cache for primary database data. An IIDC comprises a database server instance that (a) caches data blocks from a source database managed by a second database server instance, and (b) performs recovery on the cached data using redo records for the database data. The IIDC instance implements relational algebra and is configured to run any complexity of query over the cached database data. Any cache miss results in the IIDC instance fetching the needed block(s) from a second database server instance managing the source database that provides the IIDC instance with the latest version of the requested data block(s) that is available to the second instance. Because redo records are used to continuously update the data blocks in an IIDC cache, the IIDC guarantees consistency of query results.

  • Patent number: 11776694
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for quality control for biological testing. One embodiment is a system that includes a liquid handler that applies samples of genetic material to a test plate comprising an array of wells, a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) device that amplifies the genetic material, and an analysis device that determines, based on a change in visual appearance of each well, a numerical value indicating whether a corresponding sample is representative of a disease state. The system also includes a quality assurance server that identifies a pattern of the numerical values, and determines a likelihood of the pattern. In an event that the likelihood is less than a threshold value, the quality assurance server flags the test plate as potentially contaminated, and in an event that the likelihood exceeds the threshold value, the quality assurance server refrains from flagging the test plate as potentially contaminated.

  • Patent number: 11732950
Abstract: A jumper drain for a refrigerator appliance, the jumper drain including a housing with a cavity defined therein and that is in fluid communication with a storage compartment of the refrigerator appliance. An inlet and an outlet extend from the housing and are both in fluid communication with the cavity. The outlet is disposed at a location that is offset from the inlet. A pressure equalizer opening is formed in the housing. The pressure equalizer opening is configured to provide fluid communication between the cavity and an ambient environment external to the refrigerator appliance in order to equalize a pressure differential within the refrigerator appliance.

  • Publication number: 20230215083
Abstract: A virtual camera captures first images of a three-dimensional (3D) digital representation of a visual asset from different perspectives and under different lighting conditions. The first images are training images that are stored in a memory. One or more processors implement a generative adversarial network (GAN) that includes a generator and a discriminator, which are implemented as different neural networks. The generator generates second images that represent variations of the visual asset concurrently with the discriminator attempting to distinguish between the first and second images. The one or more processors update a first model in the discriminator and/or a second model in the generator based on whether the discriminator successfully distinguished between the first and second images. Once trained, the generator generates images of the visual asset based on the first model, e.g., based on a label or an outline of the visual asset.

  • Patent number: 11651846
Abstract: The disclosed system identifies a preparation status of a first and second medication. Based on the delivery time and the completion time for the second medication, the system determines whether the first medication should be delivered prior to delivering the second medication and, when determining that the second medication should delivered prior to delivering the first medication, a notification to deliver the second medication before delivering the first medication is sent to a display device.

  • Patent number: 11645241
Abstract: Techniques herein store database blocks (DBBs) in byte-addressable persistent memory (PMEM) and prevent tearing without deadlocking or waiting. In an embodiment, a computer hosts a DBMS. A reader process of the DBMS obtains, without locking and from metadata in PMEM, a first memory address for directly accessing a current version, which is a particular version, of a DBB in PMEM. Concurrently and without locking: a) the reader process reads the particular version of the DBB in PMEM, and b) a writer process of the DBMS replaces, in the metadata in PMEM, the first memory address with a second memory address for directly accessing a new version of the DBB in PMEM. In an embodiment, a computer performs without locking: a) storing, in PMEM, a DBB, b) copying into volatile memory, or reading, an image of the DBB, and c) detecting whether the image of the DBB is torn.

  • Patent number: 11605098
Abstract: Technologies are provided for generation of quality scores for brand curation. A quality score represents a quality assessment of a brand. To generate quality scores, a machine-learning (ML) model can be trained to classify brands as either pertaining or not-pertaining to a group of select brands. The ML model can be trained using the group of select brands as a training set and performance signals for those brands as feature inputs. A select brand can be an expert curated brand, a brand carried by a particular merchant, or a brand identified using social media. A performance signal defines a value of a quality metric of a brand, where the quality metric defines an aspect of interaction between a customer and the brand within a digital marketplace. A quality score of a brand can be generated by applying the trained ML model to performance signals for the brand.

  • Patent number: 11589906
Abstract: The invention relates to a biodegradable, magnesium-containing bone screw for implanting into a patient body for use in medical applications, such as, orthopedic, craniofacial and cardiovascular surgery. The bone screw has a head, shaft and tip. The thickness of the head is greater than the thickness of conventional bone screws. The shaft includes both a non-threaded and a threaded portion. The tip is non-threaded and pointed, such as, conical in shape. The composition of the bone screws provide for improved biodegradability and biocompatibility, and the features of the structure of the bone screws facilitate guidance and placement during implantation as well as reduce the potential for mechanical failures.

  • Patent number: 11585622
Abstract: Microwave ignition systems with a launcher affixed to or located within a gun spindle. Use of a planar, impedance matched system that include a launcher affixed to or located within a gun spindle and a receiver affixed the propelling charge, where the receiver is engineered and impedance matched to efficiently deposit energy into the receiving igniter material, may result in significantly better timing and reliability than conventional mechanical gun ignition systems and other microwave ignition systems. A pressure-tolerant feed through system can route the microwave energy to the inside of the breech.

  • Patent number: 11561987
Abstract: A platform receives an input document from a user device and automatically determines a semantic signature for the input document based on a probabilistic distribution of rare words within the input document. The platform automatically scrapes at least one Internet database for additional documents and webpages, determining semantic signatures for each document or webpage. Based on similarity of semantic signatures, the platform automatically constructs and displays a graphical network of documents, wherein each document is represented as a node and similarity of semantic signatures is used to determine the locations of edges between nodes. The graph automatically groups nodes by communities and selects nodes in different communities to promote serendipity of results.
