  • Patent number: 5487554
Abstract: A bicycle training device is provided which extends upwardly and rearwardly from the rear of a bicycle to allow an individual to support a rider in an upright position on the bicycle. The training device includes two generally U-shaped members which connect behind the bicycle. A grippable section is thus formed substantially parallel to the ground at an adjustable height.

  • Patent number: 5330557
Abstract: Flowable molybdenum metal powder of controlled particle size distribution is produced by stage-wise reduction wherein, in a first stage, molybdenum trioxide feed is preferably introduced at depth in a fluid bed of molybdenum dioxide and is reduced in an atmosphere containing at least 50% hydrogen, by volume, at a temperature between 560.degree. and 620.degree. C. and the product molybdenum dioxide is then reduced to molybdenum metal in a second stage fluid bed at a temperature between 1025.degree. C. and 1075.degree. C. in an atmosphere containing at least 50% hydrogen employed in amount of at least 2.75 times stoichiometric while controlling the off-gas dewpoint to be at least 21.degree. C. and controlling the off-gas hydrogen:water vapor ratio so as not to exceed 24:1 and removing the product spheroidal molybdenum metal particles from the bottom of the bed to prevent collapse of the bed.

  • Patent number: 5306513
Abstract: A baked edible cone which has a water content of from about 3.0 wt. % to about 10.0 wt. %, and which has the appearance, texture, taste, and consistency of a cookie. The cone may contain an effective water-binding or water-retaining amount of a water-binding agent, or may be refrigerated prior to baking to achieve retention of water within the cone. A preferred water-binding agent is hydrolyzed casein.

  • Patent number: 5229825
Abstract: In accordance with the invention, there is provided a magnetic brush laydown/pickup apparatus having a shell surrounding a plurality of alternating pole magnets, said shell and magnets being relatively movable to transport developer mix through a development zone. Developer mix, comprised of toner particles and carrier particles, is selectively supplied to the surface of the shell at a location upstream of a development zone. The developer mix is selectively removed from the surface of the shell at a location downstream of the development zone. Toner particles are selectively stripped from the developer mix on the shell.

  • Patent number: 4992237
Abstract: A process is provided for igniting a mixed powder material compact containing sufficient fuel to support an exothermic reaction between ingredients contained in the compact. The ignition is achieved in an inert atmosphere with an electric arc produced by an electrode without contacting the compact and thereby initiating the reaction.

  • Patent number: 4667015
Abstract: A process is provided for making flavored soluble protein concentrates from peanuts by grinding, pressing, and extracting with a flash steaming step interposed between the pressing and the extracting. The product concentrates display high protein water solubility and excellent storage characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4495157
Abstract: A process is provided for recovering metal values from spent hydrodesulfurization catalyst, the process comprising forming in a pressure reactor an aqueous slurry of finely divided spent catalyst and sodium carbonate, the spent catalyst containing by weight about 2 to 10% Mo, up to about 12% V (e.g., about 2 to 10%), about 0.5 to 4% Co, up to about 10% Ni (e.g., about 0.5 to 5%), occluded oil, coke, sulfide sulfur and the balance essentially alumina. The amount of sodium carbonate employed is at least sufficient under oxidizing conditions to convert molybdenum and any vanadium present to soluble Na.sub.2 MoO.sub.4 and NaVO.sub.3 and to neutralize SO.sub.3 produced during oxidation, the amount of sodium carbonate being at least that required stoichiometrically. The slurry is heated to a temperature of about 200.degree. C. to 350.degree. C. (e.g., 275.degree. C. to 325.degree. C.) and a pressure of about 800 psig to 2500 psig (e.g.

  • Patent number: 4183970
Abstract: A material useful as a flavor extender is produced by pressure-cooking whey solids, such as spray dried sweet cheese whey, in the presence of liquid water at a temperature in the range about 110.degree.-200.degree. C. for up to about 30-60 minutes, followed by cooling and drying the resulting pressure-cooked whey solids. The resulting processed or pressure-cooked whey material is useful alone or in compositions as a flavor material or as a flavor extender. Food or flavor compositions can be flavored and/or their flavor extended by incorporating therein the processed whey solids material or compositions containing the same. Two particularly important embodiments of this invention are the use of the processed whey solids material or compositions containing the same as extenders for cocoa or coffee.
