  • Patent number: 9995843
Abstract: Blasting video analysis techniques and systems are presented using vibration compensated background analysis with automated determination of blast origin coordinates and highest point coordinates using blast outline coordinates for post-origin frames. Blast expansion trajectories of the highest particle are estimated in frames preceding the highest point frame, and estimated blast parameters including maximum height and initial blast velocity are computed independent of blast data.

Date of Patent: June 12, 2018
    Assignee: Austin Star Detonator Company
Inventors: Bryan E. Papillon, Cameron K. McKenzie, Igor Kharitonenko, Pavel Popov, William Mckenzie Hillhouse
  • Publication number: 20160375982

  • Patent number: 8527871
Abstract: A method is disclosed for generating a quick reference handbook for use on a mobile platform. The method may involve providing a machine-readable medium for use with a processor having a memory. The machine-readable medium may provide instructions for causing the processor to generate a quick reference handbook (QRH). The QRH may be created through the use of checklists organized in accordance with a plurality of grouping schemes that include at least a plurality of: Immediate Action; Systems; and Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) messages. Differentiating criteria may also be used for decisions steps, action steps, and navigation steps within the checklists to thereby enable a user to discriminate between the steps.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 19, 2010
Date of Patent: September 3, 2013

  • Patent number: 7735005
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention provide a style guide, formatting methods, and electronic/digital versions for quick reference handbooks (QRH) for mobile platforms. Using one or more of the style guide and formatting methods to create quick reference handbooks can provide improvements in safety through error and workload reduction during non-normal situations, improvements in operator understanding of checklists and information contained in the checklists, reduced customer changes needed to create an airline quick reference handbook, reduced documentation maintenance costs, and/or reduced training costs through standardized format and content.

  • Patent number: 5522026
Abstract: A computer-based electronic checklist system automatically generates a single electronic checklist upon the detection of two or more control system faults. The checklist contains a plurality of notes to be read by, and action items to be performed by, the operator. The system combines a set of predefined action items for each fault and executes a set of conditional rules that modify the action items to reflect the current state of the control system. The system then executes a set of priority rules to determine the correct order in which the action items of the checklist are to be performed. Once the correct order of the action items is determined, the system executes a set of conflict rules to remove any conflicting or redundant action items in order to provide the operator with a single electronic checklist that is customized to the control system's current operating condition.

  • Patent number: 4106358
Abstract: A gear box having an input shaft and an output shaft which are coaxial and two lay shafts parallel to and spaced from the input shaft, the lay shafts having respective gears fixed to them, said gears engaging with a gear fixed to the output shaft and the lay shafts carrying gears which mesh with respective gears which are non rotatably carried on the input shaft, the said meshing input and lay shaft gears providing respective ratios through which torque is transmitted from the input shaft to either one of the lay shafts, through the appropriate permanently meshing gears to the output shaft and clutch means for selectively engaging the gears on the lay shafts with said shafts.
