    Abstract: A cover is provided for placing over an article fixed to a surface. The cover is particularly useful for covering a fire hydrant and identifying the fire hydrant in the winter months in a climate accustomed to great depths of snow which normally would cover or otherwise conceal the fire hydrant. The cover has an open end and a closed end with an interior volume formed therebetween for enclosing the fire hydrant. The cover includes a strap or the like for securing the cover to the article being covered to prevent the cover from being removed from covering the article.
