Abstract: An overload warning apparatus for an internal combustion engine, wherein a switch is mounted adjacent the throttle control plate of the carburetor such that an outwardly extending leg of the plate engages and depresses a switch upon movement of the plate into its wide open position. Once depressed, the switch closes an electrical circuit to energize an indicator to alert an operator of the wide open throttle condition. Alternatively, the switch is located adjacent the governor lever of the engine such that the governor lever depresses the switch upon movement of the lever to a position causing the throttle plate to be moved into its wide open position.
