  • Publication number: 20140223198
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention create an underlying infrastructure in a flash memory device (e.g., a serial peripheral interface (SPI) flash memory device) such that it may be protected against user attacks—e.g., replacing the SPI flash memory device or a man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack to modify the SPI flash memory contents on the fly. In the prior art, monotonic counters cannot be stored in SPI flash memory devices because said devices do not provide replay protection for the counters. A user may also remove the flash memory device and reprogram it. Host platforms alone cannot protect against such hardware attacks. Embodiments of the invention enable secure standard storage flash memory devices such as SPI flash memory devices to achieve replay protection for securely stored data. Embodiments of the invention utilize flash memory controllers, flash memory devices, unique device keys and HMAC key logic to create secure execution environments for various components.

  • Publication number: 20130235037
Abstract: A contemplated system analyzes files used to create 3D objects by first virtually constructing the 3D object, and then by examining the virtual construct in a variety of different ways to determine if the 3D object has protected content. The system could examine the virtualized object from a variety of different angles, read characters embossed or imprinted upon the 3D object, and could even play virtualized records and other virtualized video/audio tools to determine if the 3D object has protected content. If the system rules that the 3D object has a high probability of having protected content, an alert is sent to an appropriate authority.

  • Publication number: 20130235412
Abstract: A system for printing 3D objects protects a 3D object file from being copied by separating the file into a series of instructions for printing the 3D object and sends those instructions piecemeal to a printing facility. The system enforces a methodology that forces the print facility to delete a previous set of instructions before the print facility can receive the next set of instructions to print a 3D object. By using such a system, the print facility never has the entire 3D print file in memory, preserving the rights of the creator of the 3D print file.

  • Patent number: 8502401
Abstract: A polymeric composition comprising a first polymer chosen from a poly(arylene ether) polymer including polymer repeat units of the following structure: —(O—Ar1—O—Ar2—O—)m—(—O—Ar3—O—Ar4—O)n- where Ar1, Ar2, Ar3, and Ar4 are identical or different aryl radicals, m is 0 to 1, n is 1 m; a polysulfone, a polyimide, a poly(etherketone), a polyurea, a polyurethane, and combinations thereof and a second polymer comprising a per(phenylethynyl) arene polymer derivative. Cured films containing the polymer can exhibit at least one of the following properties: Tg from 160° C. to 180° C., a dielectric constant below 2.7 with frequency independence, and a maximum moisture absorption of less than 0.17 wt %. Accordingly, the polymer is especially useful, for example, in interlayer dielectrics and in die-attach adhesives.

  • Patent number: 8364915
Abstract: Techniques for generating access information indicating a least recently used (LRU) memory region in a set of memory regions. In an embodiment, data is stored in an entry of an LRU tracking list (LTL) based on a touch message indicating when a memory group has been touched—e.g. read from, written to and/or associated with a memory region. The data stored in an LTL entry may include an identifier of a memory group and/or validity data specifying whether that LTL entry stores a set of default data. In another embodiment, access information may be generated based on the memory group identifier and the validity data.

  • Publication number: 20120323710
Abstract: A method and system for creating an account and storing account information on an electronic device, such as a smart phone or tablet for use in conducting financial and other transactions. Account numbers for credit cards, debit cards, membership cards, gift cards and so forth may be displayed on a screen of the electronic device as a one-dimensional or two dimensional bar code that is then scanned by a merchant to conduct a financial transaction in the case of a purchase or to identify an individual as a member of a rewards club or other club.

  • Patent number: 8334787
Abstract: Device, structure and method for retrofitting a utility meter such as a gas meter with a retrofit module or for new installations to conventional meters so that it can be read remotely and so that retrofit may be accomplished simply by unskilled workers and without damage or alteration of meter. The method for retrofitting a meter of the type having shaft driven dial with dial index pointer and index cover involves removing the meter index cover to access the meter index dial pointer; attaching a magnet to the pointer so that it is carried in orbit around the pointer shaft to which the pointer is attached; and mounting a sensor to the meter adapted to sense the passage of the pointer-mounted magnet and to detect the orbit of index pointer; the attaching of the magnet and the mounting of the sensor being performed without removing the meter dial index assembly.
