In preferred embodiments, the press drive is stopped during wash-up and the form roller is independently driven.

    Abstract: A thermal ink jet printer that prints onto thermal adhesive binding tape includes a tape feeding adapter that enables the feeding of tape into and out of the printer. The adapter includes a base support member for supporting a plurality of tapes in a substantially horizontal position for feeding into the printer and two tape guide members positioned orthogonally and centrally of the base support member for guiding the tapes into and out of the printer. Two support and guide members are connected to and extends orthogonally with respect to the two tape guides members for receiving and supporting the tapes between the two tape guides members and above the base support member after the tapes have exited the printer.

    Abstract: An automatic dampening system for a lithographic printing press applies a fountain solution to the printing plate on a plate cylinder through the inking rollers. The dampening system has a first roller partially immersed in the fountain solution and a second roller contacting the first roller. The outer surface of the second roller is rotatively coupled to the outer surface of one of the inking rollers such that the rotation of the inking roller will rotate the second roller and the first roller. A bridge roller may be used to bridge any gap between the second roller and the inking roller to maintain the rotative coupling between the rollers. The first and second rollers have outer layers made of elastomeric materials which have a hardness such that a pressure indent is formed in at least one of the outer layers of the rollers at the nip between the first and second rollers and such that the second roller can be rotatably driven by the inking roller.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for recovering the residual image from an electrostatic recording surface in an electrostatic copying system which is accomplished by presenting a wiping element in pressure contact with the residual image on the recording surface whereby the residual image is substantially removed therefrom, moving a conductive member in close proximity to the toner particles being removed from the recording surface, applying a DC voltage opposite in polarity to that of the toner particles and of sufficient magnitude to the conductive member whereby the toner particles are attracted onto the surface of the conductive member, and continuously removing the toner particles from the conductive member into a collection zone for reuse in the copying system.

The ends of the master bearing web may be joined together to form an endless loop to enable the masters to be recopied in sequence the number of times required to produce the number of book copies desired.
