    Abstract: A method for auditing financial records is provided. The method includes setting a High Threshold such that a 100% detail examination is performed on all records with values exceeding the High Threshold. A Low Threshold such that none of the records with values below that Low Threshold are sampled or examined. Two or more strata spanning the range between the Low and High Thresholds specified and evaluated using the coefficient of variation of each stratum to evaluate the stratification boundaries and guide the determination of sample size.
