  • Patent number: 8747471
Abstract: An implant for insertion into a patient includes a superior surface disposed at a first end of the implant and an inferior surface disposed at a second, opposite end of the implant. The superior and inferior surfaces of the implant are constructed with curvatures that approximately match the morphology of vertebral endplates. The inferior surface and superior surface may include the same or different radii of curvature within the coronal and sagittal planes. The inferior surface and superior surface may be defined by spherical radii. The radius of the superior surface may be about 60 percent to 74 percent of the radius of the inferior surface.

  • Publication number: 20060241641
Abstract: Instruments for inserting an artificial disc implant in a space between adjacent bony portions include upper and lower guide members separated by a spreader with an implant positioned forwardly of the spreader. The spreader is movable forwardly between the guide members with a drive member to position the implant in a space between the bony portions while engaging at least a portion of the implant with at least one vertebra. The spreader contacts the adjacent bony portions to facilitate withdrawal of the inserter instrument when the implant is positioned in the space and engaged with the at least one vertebra.

  • Publication number: 20060100705
Abstract: An interbody spacer for insertion between vertebral members. The spacer includes a body having posterior and anterior sides, and inferior and superior faces. The spacer further includes a plurality of teeth to maintain the position of the spacer between the vertebral members. The teeth are aligned in a pattern and have a shape to allow insertion into the space between the vertebral members, and prevent or limit movement once the spacer is positioned in the space.

  • Publication number: 20050222538
Abstract: A surgical system for delivery of viscous fluid is described. The system includes a housing having a handle portion and a coupling portion extending generally transverse to the handle portion, a reservoir member for engaging with the housing, the reservoir member being adapted to receive a viscous fluid prior to engagement with the housing, and a plunger member adapted to be inserted into the coupling portion and translated through the reservoir member via engagement of the plunger member with the coupling portion.
