  • Patent number: 9061714
Abstract: A battery pack protection system is provided for use with an electric vehicle in which the battery pack is mounted under the car. The system utilizes a debris capture plate mounted in front of the battery pack and positioned such that the leading edge of the mounted capture plate is positioned closer to the underlying road surface than the lowermost battery pack surface. Capture plate stiffeners, which are mounted to the capture plate, use deformation control features (e.g., notches) to promote a preconfigured pattern of capture plate deformation when a piece of debris impacts the plate's leading edge. The deformed capture plate then traps the debris and stops it from passing under the battery pack, thereby preventing the battery pack from possible debris impact damage.

  • Patent number: 5454167
Abstract: The saw comprises a cased motor driving a circular saw blade that is pivotally mounted to a baseplate to vary the cutting extension below the baseplate. A channel-shaped part that is of smaller cross-section than an open slot in the baseplate is used for guiding the baseplate during a cutting operation over a worktable by abutment against or location over an upstanding guide located on the worktable. The channel-shaped part is medially pivoted to the baseplate and its angle thereto is adjusted by way of a cam so as to vary the angle of the baseplate, and hence of the saw blade, relative to the direction of travel, thereby to permit the production of a width of cut greater than the width of the saw blade.

  • Saw
    Patent number: 4353165
Abstract: A rotatable portable saw has a saw blade 2 which is pivotally mounted with respect to plate 15 so that the position of the blade relative to the plate 15 can be altered to alter the depth of cut. In a modified form the saw blade can be angled slightly to the direction of traverse of the saw so that the width of the cut can be made slightly greater than the width of the blade. In use the saw is traversed across a workpiece with the blade positioned to produce a scribing cut in the surface of the workpiece and then traversed back across the workpiece, after lowering the blade position relative to the workpiece, so that the workpiece is cut right through. In this way, for a given directional rotation of the blade, the blade can be made always to approach the surface being cut so that splintering of the workpiece is substantially reduced or eliminated.
