  • Patent number: 7958639
Abstract: A knife includes a knife body defining a channel across which extends at least part of the cutting edge of a blade. The channel having has a base region located behind the cutting edge in the cutting direction. The knife body is provided, adjacent the base region, with flow passages on opposing sides thereof, the flow passages being out of alignment with one another.

  • Patent number: 7774943
Abstract: A knife comprises a body, a feed blade store, a return blade store, a feed path along which a blade can be fed from the feed blade store to an operative position, and from the operative position to the return blade store, and control means operable to ensure that a returning blade is returned to the return blade store.

  • Publication number: 20070245572
Abstract: A knife comprising a handle 100, a blade mounted on the handle 100 so that a portion of the blade, formed with a cutting edge, projects from the handle 100, a blade guard 104 which extends adjacent at least part of the cutting edge in spaced relation thereto, and a support 108 which connects the guard 104 to the handle 100, which support is shaped such that, in use, it does not cause the cut material to be forced apart in the plane of the cut material.

  • Patent number: 6473974
Abstract: A safety knife for removing flashing from plastics mouldings, or other similar operations, comprises a handle and two blades mounted to project side-by-side from the handle. The cutting edge of each blade is substantially parallel to, and slightly spaced from, the cutting edge of the ether blade, and the general planes of the blades diverge as they extend away from their cutting edges. When the knife is not in use each bade serves us a guard for the other blade so as to reduce the risk of accidental injury.

  • Patent number: 6453559
Abstract: A safety knife comprises a handle and a blade mounted on the handle so that a part of the blade projects from the handle. Two retractable safety guards are also mounted on the handle, overlying opposite sides of the projecting portion of the blade. Each guard is spring-loaded so that pressure from the material being cut causes the guards to retract into the handle as the blade cuts into the material. A manually controlled locking device normally prevents the guards being retracted but, when operated, allows the guards to retract. The guards automatically extend, under the action of springs, when the knife is removed from the material.

  • Patent number: 6195896
Abstract: A safety knife comprises a handle, a main blade mounted on the handle with a pointed end part of the cutting edge of the blade projecting from the handle at an obtuse angle, and a guard mounted on the handle to shield the projecting portion of the blade. The guard comprises a further blade which is mounted on the handle in generally the same plane as the main blade and has a concavely curved cutting edge which extends around the projecting point of the main blade. The outer edge of the guard blade is unsharpened so that the guard blade protects and shields the point of the main blade as well as contributing to the cutting action of the knife.

  • Patent number: 5768787
Abstract: A safety knife comprises a main body formed with a slot having a narrow open mouth, into which the material to be cut is inserted, and a blade mounted on the main body with a portion of its cutting edge extending across the slot at a location spaced inwardly from the mouth of the slot. The blade is mounted in a recess in the main body for sliding movement across the slot, against the action of a spring, and is coupled to a sleeve which is slidable on the main body. The user holds the knife by the sleeve so that, as the knife is used to cut material, the relative movement between the sleeve and main body causes to blade to slide across the slot, thus enhancing the cutting action.
