A third, side wall and a fourth, side wall each connect the first end wall to the second end wall of the lid. The second planar side has a recess therein with projections for compressing a foam insert The lid is installed onto an ink jet cartridge having an open-ended cavity and a foam insert disposed therein.

The protector including a protector body shaped to receive at least a portion of the inkjet cartridge and including a section to allow UV radiation to penetrate the protector body and cure a UV sensitive material on the inkjet cartridge.

Abstract: A transport protector is provided for an inkjet cartridge wherein the inkjet cartridge includes a cartridge body, an inkwell extending from the cartridge body and a nozzle on the inkwell. The protector includes a protector body having a recess shaped to receive an inkwell of an inkjet cartridge and cover a nozzle of the inkjet cartridge. The protector further including a lid hingedly connected to the body. The lid pivots between an opened condition and a closed condition and engages the inkjet cartridge to evenly urge the cartridge into the recess when in the closed condition. The lid also includes a lid lock for releasably engaging the protector body to maintain the protector in the closed condition.

Abstract: An ink refill bottle for a modified inkjet printhead cassette which has a rear wall opening through which the refill bottle may be inserted comprises a front wall connected to a rear wall by sidewalls to form an ink reservoir chamber, a foam adaptor for drawing ink from the ink chamber when called for by the printhead cassette, and an air inlet metering device for metering air into the ink chamber to replace the ink drawn from the ink chamber and for retaining the remainder of the ink in the ink chamber.
