  • Publication number: 20210323198
Abstract: A method of recycling post-consumer plastic waste into mono filament for use in fused filament fabrication, injection molding, or other plastic manufacturing processes. Contaminated curbside plastic waste is sorted and granulated to uniform sized flakes. The plastic regrind is cleaned in a closed-loop wash cycle and dried at 160° F. and ?70 dew point to reduce the moisture content to less than 0.03%. The effluent water is purified to be reused in the system. The flake plastic is extruded to a molten state and passes through additional melt filtration. A laser micrometer measures extrudate metrics like diameter and ovality to dynamically control feed and flow rates of the extruder to maintain diameter uniformity within 0.018 mm of target diameter.

  • Publication number: 20080067054
Abstract: The present invention is directed to distillation systems and methods. The still may have an impermeable nonporous membrane that may be extruded, molded, vacuum formed or sprayed-on. The membrane may be installed in a lightweight basin as a liner. The distillation system may also include a unique sealing system that may include a gasket with a cross-section shaped like the lowercase letter “e” and may include a trim piece that hold a basin casing and casing cover together. The distillation system may be designed in such a manner so as to make shipping and assembly easy and cost effective. For example, the distillation system may be constructed as a kit that all needed components and all the components are placed inside of a standard dimension box for shipping. In various embodiments, the distillation system may be a solar distillation system.

  • Publication number: 20060250616
Abstract: A method and apparatus for an improved spectral imaging system is provided. The system is capable of measuring the fluorescence, luminescence, or absorption at selected locations on a sample plate. The emissions detection subassembly can tune to any wavelength within a continuum of wavelengths utilizing an interferometric spectral discriminator. The interferometric spectral discriminator creates an interferogram from which the wavelength spectra for each pixel of the array can be calculated, typically using Fourier transform analysis. In one aspect, the chromatic accuracy of the system is calibrated using a calibration slit placed in the input aperture of the input relay lens but outside of the sample image. The slit is illuminated using a source of known wavelength. The fringe count versus the wavelength of the slit illumination source is monitored and used to calibrate the spectral discriminator.

  • Publication number: 20050054432
Abstract: The present invention provides a way of awarding a bonus round while complying with regulations that restrict gaming machine features for certain venues. For a five-reel, five payline game having seven game elements, three of which are fruit elements, a bonus round is triggered whenever all elements of a three row by 5 reel display are fruit elements. The winning screen is then used as a pick-a-prize screen. Animation is used to transform the chosen fruit into the bonus point award.
