  • Publication number: 20250042557
Abstract: Parachutes which have a generally circular skirt or hem, such as semi-hemispherical, extended gore, or any variant of axisymmetric parachutes and cruciform parachutes with arms attached are disclosed with a plurality of vertical slits located in a circumferential band adjacent the skirt or hem of the parachute to prevent canopy inversion. During deployment, when the outer portion of the canopy is exposed to air flow, the slits open up and the drag of the skirt of the canopy is reduced, thus limiting the potential for hem migration. The slits are positioned to allow airflow therethrough in order for the pressure on the outside of the canopy to be transferred through the slit openings and released or transferred to inside of the lower section of the canopy. Instead of slits, elongated narrow openings can be utilized.

  • Publication number: 20250042538
Abstract: The present disclosure is generally related to aircraft having one or more unducted fan propulsors at locations within specific regions relative to an airfoil, such as a wing or horizontal stabilizer. More specifically, the specific regions are located where there is a relatively higher pressure air flow beneath the wings or above a horizontal stabilizer. That higher pressure air flow can be utilized to provide increased thrust from the unducted fan propulsor.

  • Publication number: 20250042678
Abstract: A dosing apparatus includes a doser mechanism that discharges an index amount of a granular material based on drawing the granular material from an intake hopper. A drop-down device is coupled between the intake hopper and a supply hopper and enables enable a flow of the granular material from the supply hopper to the intake hopper through a conduit. The drop-down device restricts a flow rate of the flow of granular material through the conduit based on directing the flow around a slat extending into the conduit. The slat has an upper slat surface that is angled downwards at an inclination angle that may correspond to an angle of repose of the granular material.

  • Publication number: 20250043058
Abstract: Polyol compositions that contain imide groups are prepared by producing imide compounds from trimellitic anhydride and an aromatic aminoacid or an aromatic diamine, then esterifying the imide compounds with one or more polyols that have hydroxyl equivalent weights of 30 to 500. Aromatic carboxylic acid derivatives may be present during the esterification step to produce polyol compositions that contain species that have imide groups, and other species that do not have imide groups. The polyol compositions are useful in making isocyanate-based polymers, in particular polyurethane and/or polyurethane-isocyanuranate foams. The presence of the imide groups in the isocyanate-based polymers imparts fire retardant properties.
