  • Publication number: 20190039765
Abstract: A tape closure system is shown and described herein. The tape closure system includes a first tape component having a pressure sensitive adhesive and a second tape component having a pressure sensitive adhesive, where at least one of the pressure sensitive adhesives has a modified surface to reduce the tack of the surface such that when the first and second pressure adhesives are brought into contact with one another they may sufficiently adhere to one another to form a seal but are still separable from one another and able to be repeatedly opened and sealed. Such a tape may be manufactured through high speed manufacturing processes and wound into large master rolls. In the roll configuration, the modified surface contacts the backside of the liner and experiences compressive forces in the roll. Due to the compressive forces, a part of the modified surface may get pushed into the PSA, thereby affecting the properties of the modified adhesive.

  • Publication number: 20190042200
Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to techniques for enhancing packing density of carry-chains implemented on an integrated circuit. In particular, a packed-carry chain may be implemented to redistribute and/or emulate the logic of a first number of arithmetic logic cells of a first and/or second carry-chain using a second number of arithmetic logic cells less than or equal to the first number. By fitting the first and second carry-chain into such a packed carry-chain, the area consumed to perform the arithmetic operations of the first and second carry-chain may be reduced. As a result, the integrated circuit may benefit from increased efficiencies, reduced latency, and reduced resource consumption (e.g., wiring, area, and power).

  • Publication number: 20190041980
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for determining the orientation of an object relative to a moving or moveable platform. The object may for example be a helmet worn by a pilot of an aircraft in which orientation of the helmet relative the aircraft while in flight may usefully be known, in particular when determining the position of space-stabilised symbols being displayed in an associated helmet-mounted digital display system. The method and apparatus rely upon a combination or orientation rate data output by an inertial sensor arrangement associated with the object and orientation data output by a non-inertial tracker system associated with the object. Orientation data of the moveable platform is also used to reference the non-inertial tracker output to inertial space.

  • Publication number: 20190038495
Abstract: The biodegradable urn planting system, also called a LIVING URN, is an apparatus capable of rapid degradation in soil that the user can fill with cremated remains, a pH neutralizing and sodium diluting material, soil, planting mix, wood chips, and a living plant (seedling or bare root stock). When one loses a loved one, it is often difficult to discern what to do with the remains (be they human or animal). Many towns and cities do not allow for burial, and storage of cremated remains can be problematic. The present invention seeks to provide a meaningful and tangible way for one to remember the loved one when the cremated remains are buried with a seedling that may be drop shipped and is appropriate for the environment of use. Thus, the seedling grows into a tree, providing comfort and a reminder of the deceased.

  • Publication number: 20190041979
Abstract: A system and related method for hybrid headtracking receives head-referenced pose data from a head-mounted IMU and platform-referenced or georeferenced position and orientation (pose) data from a platform-mounted IMU, determines error models corresponding to uncertainties associated with both IMUs, and performs an initial estimate of head pose relative to the platform reference frame based on the head-referenced and platform-referenced pose data. A numerically stable UD factorization of the Kalman filter propagates the estimated head pose data forward in time and corrects the initial head pose estimate (and may correct the error models associated with the head-mounted and platform-mounted IMUs) based on secondary head pose estimates, and corresponding error models, received from an optical or magnetic aiding device. The corrected head pose data is forward to a head-worn display to ensure high accuracy of displayed imagery and symbology.

  • Publication number: 20190042442
Abstract: A data storage system comprises physical storage, cache memory and a processor connected to the physical storage and the cache memory. The processor is arranged to maintain a set of active regions in the cache memory, each active region having a size equal to an integer multiple of an update size of a flash chip within the physical storage, where the integer could be 1. The processor receives requests for one or more blocks of the cache memory from components within the storage system and allocates one or more blocks from an active region in response to a received request. If the processor determines that all blocks in an active region have been allocated and that all allocated blocks within this region have been written to, then the processor destages the content of this region to the physical storage.
