    Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses are provided in which power control relay switches may be configured to switch at or near a predetermined time during an AC cycle and/or that are configured to control a velocity of an armature of the relay switch during switching. An input power source may provide alternating current (AC) power and a voltage or current level of the AC power may be sensed. A relay controller may switch the relay switch based on a time at which the voltage or current is at or near a zero-crossing. The relay controller may be configured to close the relay switch based on when a voltage of the power input is at a zero-crossing, and is configured to open the relay switch based on when a current of the power input is at a zero-crossing.

    Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a thermal management device having a controller to monitor pressure parameters for hot and cold rooms where the hot and cold rooms are divided by a rack for electronic devices and are substantially isolated from each other, and adjust a flow of cooling air to the cold room where the adjustment of the flow of cooling air to the cold room is based at least in part on the pressure parameters and maintaining a target pressure differential between the hot and cold rooms and where the target pressure differential induces a flow of the cooling air through one or more electronic devices in the rack. The requested data is retrieved by the availability service from one or more mailbox servers having data for each attendee and/or asset. Potential attendees may set permissions on their respective availability data to restrict the amount and types of data that may be retrieved by a given data requester. Data queries and data responses may be structured according to the Extensible Markup Language (XML) and application programming interfaces (API) may be exposed for allowing requesting applications to efficiently call the availability service for availability data.

    Abstract: An adaptive multi-line view user interface is provided that varies the manner in which data is displayed as the size of the user interface is changed. As the available horizontal space in the user interface becomes too small to display the text or data on a given display line, the data is rearranged to fit the available space. Text or data that will be truncated as the width of the user interface is decreased is moved to a separate display line beneath the line in which the truncated text or data was previously displayed. A maximum number of lines may be specified for displaying text or data. After the maximum number of lines is reached, additional text or data truncated by narrowing the width of the user interface is not displayed. The displayed lines of text or data may be displayed according to a progressively lighter font from line to line so that lines at or near the top of a given displayed text or data record are darker and more readily draw the attention of a reader.

    Abstract: A wireless phone-line interface provides wireless communications between a modem and a switched telephone network. A wireless phone-line interface has a line interface transceiver coupled to a switched telephone network and a modem transceiver coupled to a modem. The modem may be coupled to computer, multimedia, or other electronic information equipment. The line interface transceiver and modem transceiver exchange wireless signals in reselected channels so that up-link and down-link frequencies transmitted and received by the line interface and modem transceivers are separate and distinct and do not interfere with one another. The cabling previously required between the modem and the switch telephone network is thereby eliminated, allowing easy relocation of the modem with its associated computer equipment to anywhere within the transmission range of the line interface and modem transceivers. The transceivers may be powered by DC-adapted 110 volt AC power.

    Abstract: A Digital Recording Center having a removable playback module for permanently capturing a human voice or other sounds into a compact module for playback within a greeting card or photograph. A recording center having a microphone (or other audio input device) is used to record a brief message, in a digital fashion, for loading into a playback module. Before loading the message into the playback module, the customer may listen through a speaker to determine if his message as recorded sounds proper. If the temporarily recorded message is in good form, the customer activates a transfer command button and the message is non-volatilely stored in the removable playback module. The playback module may be placed into a compartment within a greeting card or picture, ornament, a stuffed animal or doll, or even a dog tag.
