  • Patent number: 5537124
Abstract: A rotating antenna system subject to both tilt and translation forces includes first and second tilt sensors each having a pendulum assembly of a different length than the other sensor. The sensors provide identical output signals in response to a tilt, but different output signals in response to a translation of the antenna. Circuitry is provided for eliminating the effects of translation so as to obtain a tilt angle correction signal for correcting the radar height calculation.

  • Patent number: 5454890
Abstract: A cap-sensitive emulsion explosive capable of being used in packaged explosive products. The explosive contains ammonium nitrate prills of a bulk density of 0.70 to 1.00 g/cc, with a particle density of 1.25 to 1.40 g/cc. A polysuccinic anhydride based emulsifying agent is used as an emulsifying agent. Packaged explosives prepared according to the present invention have improved package stability, and allow for control of the ratio of shock energy to heave energy.

  • Patent number: 4960966
Abstract: Switch device including an enclosure having a pivot or shaft arm extending across the enclosure with a distal arm attached thereto for selective contact to move the shaft to indicate the presence of an object. The pivotal shaft carries a actuator device for rotational movement with movement of the distal arm, a stop device connected from the inside surface of the enclosure extending toward the actuator device to engage the actuator device and limit the movement of the actuator device in a first direction, a sensor device normally located in proximity to the actuator device when the actuator device engages the stop device, a generally oval elastomeric spring device attached to the inner surface of the enclosure and adapted to normally to engage the side of the actuator device opposite the sensor device to bias the actuator device to engagement with the stop device and to allow the movement of the actuator device away from the stop device and the sensor device upon engagement of an object with the distal arm.

  • Patent number: 4948440
Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus for the manufacture of a coarse emulsion blasting agent and a method for the conversion of same into a sensitive blasting explosive. The apparatus comprises a low shear mechanical mixer in which a coarse emulsion can be continuously prepared. The coarse emulsion is then passed though a fine emulsification motionless mixer for conversion into sensitive explosive.

  • Patent number: 4718953
Abstract: A novel heterogeneous, cap-sensitive high explosive is provided which comprises a crystalline inorganic nitrate salt having dispersed throughout the matrix of the salt crystal a hydroxyalkyl nitrate fuel. Particularly preferred are ammonium nitrate crystals having dispersed therein ethylene glycol mononitrate. The crystalline high explosive is dry and free flowing and may be used per se, in admixture with bulking agents or fluidizing agents or may be used as a replacement for a substantial amount of nitroglycerine in conventional dynamite compositions.
