An exemplary implementation of a keypad device comprises a keypad circuit and a processor operatively associated with computer readable storage. A keypad program resides in the computer readable storage and is executable by the processor to generate signals identifying input at the keypad circuit and to issue the signals to automation devices in the building automation system.
