  • Patent number: 11920814
Abstract: A method of controlling an agricultural facility for housing a plurality of animals includes the step of regulating the environment within the agricultural facility with an automated building operational system. An automated thermal event controller is operationally coupled with the automated building operational system and generates a thermal event signal in response to a thermal event in progress, whereby the automated thermal event controller, upon receipt of the thermal event signal indicating that the thermal event is in progress, activates an alarm state. In the alarm state, the automated thermal event controller: sends an alarm signal to a system administrator; places the automated building operational system in a safety-mode condition for a first predetermined time interval; and places the automated building operational system in a normal-mode operational condition after the first predetermined time interval and if a confirmatory signal is not yet then received from the system administrator.

  • Publication number: 20130112694
Abstract: Disclosed is a portable cooler device comprised of recyclable materials. Some embodiments of the device comprise components constructed entirely of, or substantially of, cellulose. Other embodiments may be comprised of recyclable materials not classified as cellulose such as, but not limited to, cotton, bamboo, hemp, or other natural fibers. The specific percentages of recycled and/or recyclable content are not limiting factors for the invention; however, most embodiments have consistent materials of construction such that the entire device may be recycled in a single recycling process without the need for deconstruction. Further, if not recycled, embodiments may be suited to biodegrade within a reasonable amount of time when exposed to the elements in a landfill. Typical embodiments are comprised of an inner shell, an outer shell and pressed cellulose insulating boards sandwiched between the shells.

  • Publication number: 20090064994
Abstract: A concentrating solar collector comprises concentrating solar collector modules mounted on a frame. Each concentrating solar collector module comprises a trough with a lens sheet over its open face. The troughs each have a cross section that is substantially V shaped with a truncated (or flattened) base. The lens sheet incorporates a linear array of ten lenses in a row along its length. Each lens of the lens sheet is a circularly symmetric Fresnel lens. The concentrating solar collector modules can each rotate about a rocking axis parallel to their length. The concentrating solar collector modules can also rotate about a pitch axis substantially at their midpoints. This allows the lenses to track the position of the sun in the sky.

  • Publication number: 20070275246
Abstract: A method for biolithographical deposition of molecules is provided. According to an embodiment of the method, a reactive layer (e.g., a polysaccharide mass) having a surface region coated with a biologically compatible resist is provided. A portion of the biologically compatible resist is selectively removed to expose an exposed portion of the reactive layer. Molecules, such as biomolecules and/or cellular species, are then conjugated to the exposed portion of the reactive layer. Also provided are materials and devices related to the method.

  • Publication number: 20070115089
Abstract: A switchable thermal circuit breaker (10) has an automatically resettable, current carrying thermostatic disc (14) cantilever mounted in a housing (12) and carries a movable contact (14b) into and out of electrical engagement with a stationary contact (14c). A disc coupling member (16) is pivotally mounted above the disc and has fingers (16e, 16f) to capture opposed sides of the disc so that the disc coupling member pivots concomitantly with movement of the disc. A radially extending blade (18c) of a pivot member is biased by a spring (18k) into engagement with a stop surface (16k) of the disc coupling member when the contacts are in the engaged position and is movable under the stop arm (16g) when the disc moves to the contacts disengaged position to prevent reengagement of the contacts.

  • Patent number: 4661984
Abstract: A line inspection system suitable for inspecting printed circuit boards for defects. In a first embodiment disclosed, a plurality of sensors which detect the presence or absence of conductor material on the board are grouped in a preestablished pattern. The area of the circuit board to be inspected is scanned by the sensing pattern and logical sequences of sensor condition which indicate defects are searched for. In a second embodiment disclosed, the area to be inspected is scanned serially, and the resultant data stored. Logical analysis is then performed on the stored data to determine whether the pattern of data is or is not consistent with an acceptable part.
