Patent number: 12056771Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing automated underwriting based on document images are described. The method may include receiving a document image corresponding to a form and data contained within the form for which an underwriting decision is to be rendered. The method may also include performing a first machine learning based analysis of the document image by extracting one or more keys and one or more values corresponding to the keys from the document image using a first machine learning model trained to digitize the form from the document image. The method may also include performing a second machine learning based analysis using the one or more keys and one or more values corresponding to keys as an input into a second machine learning model trained to make the decision based on key, value pairs.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2019Date of Patent: August 6, 2024Assignee: OMNISCIENCE CORP.Inventors: Alexander Wesley Contryman, Jacob Ryan van Gogh, William Bertrand, Manu Shukla

Publication number: 20230347120Abstract: A valve assembly (10) configured to maintain fluid flow therethrough at a constant flow rate. The valve assembly (10) including a flexible flow control member (50) defining an inner fluid chamber (90) within the flexible flow control member (50) and an inlet opening (56) to the inner fluid chamber (90). An outer fluid chamber (92) is defined between the flexible flow control member (50) and an inner surface (74) of a valve housing (20). The flexible flow control member (50) is configured to flex inward and shrink the inner fluid chamber (90) in response to a pressure decrease in the inner fluid chamber (90) relative to the outer fluid chamber (92) resulting from an increase in an inlet flow rate to maintain an outlet flow rate from the valve assembly (10) at the constant flow rate.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 28, 2020Publication date: November 2, 2023Inventors: Yi CAI, Steve HAN, Yong FENG, Zhihua LUO, Jeff William BERTRAND

Publication number: 20230338839Abstract: The technology described in this application relates to a system and method for using an API for a video game application where the data from the API can be used in various processes and sub-processes. For example, the technology allows a system to create a tournament for a game (e.g., a multiplayer first person shooter game) where data obtained via an API can be used for measuring player participating in the tournament. The technology described herein can also utilize a technique for continuously making API calls without the risk of the API system denying a request (e.g., due to too many frequent API call attempts, due to too many requests made from a single network address).Type: ApplicationFiled: April 20, 2022Publication date: October 26, 2023Inventors: Michael Ray GARNICA, Nicholas Andrew SAPONARO, Kent OKAZAKI, Logan Williams BERTRAND

Publication number: 20220134264Abstract: A water recirculating system for power sluices includes a first filtration unit, a second filtration unit, and a third filtration unit. Each filtration unit is equipped with a debris catcher and a filter that to clean the dirty water that discharges from the power sluices. A tailings catcher is integrated into the first filtration unit to receives the dirty water that discharges from the power sluices as the first stage of filtration. Then, the debris catchers and the filters clean the dirty water as the first filtration unit is in fluid communication with the second filtration unit, and the second filtration unit is in fluid communication with the third filtration unit. Resulting clean water that enters into the third filtration unit is then pumped back into the power sluices thus allowing a quantity of water to recirculate through the power sluices.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 4, 2021Publication date: May 5, 2022Inventor: Steven William Bertrand

Patent number: 10621741Abstract: Disclosed is a system of navigation that is not dependent on man-made satellites. Disclosed is a digital imaging system that may be calibrated using known angular distances and then used to determine unknown angular distances, including the angular distance of celestial bodies above the user's horizon. The digital imaging system may be used in conjunction with a celestial database to determine lines of position and establish a fix revealing the geographic location of the user. The system is expected to be most useful when employed on vessels at sea, including aircraft, and may also be useful on land. The invention offers an alternative to Global Positioning Systems, which are subject to inactivation by governments or traditional mechanical-optical sextants, which are time consuming and cumbersome to use.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 2018Date of Patent: April 14, 2020Inventor: William Bertrand
