  • Patent number: 9693541
Abstract: A fishing pole system includes a shaft having a hollow interior with a cap connected to its upper end and a point connected to its lower end. A slide is positioned within the hollow interior and an internal lead is connected to the slide at its lower end, the internal lead extends through the cap and connects to a swivel at its upper end. The slide includes a locking mechanism which engages a locking mechanism connected to the point. In use, the cap end of the fishing pole is banged on the ground which releases the slide from the point and the internal lead is paid-out from the hollow interior. To store the fishing pole, the slide is withdrawn within the hollow interior by gravity. When fully withdrawn, the point is banged into the ground causing the slide to lock to the point and the fishing pole is stored away.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 5, 2014
Date of Patent: July 4, 2017
    Assignee: Mudbum, L.L.C.
Inventors: Jeff Kipling, William Blaine Garrett, II

  • Publication number: 20130074758
Abstract: An anchoring enclosure embodying the invention includes a chamber whose buoyancy can be controlled by pumping a gas (e.g., air) or a liquid (e.g., sea water) into the chamber. The anchoring enclosure includes a bottom extension for embedding the anchoring enclosure into the seabed and an anti-scouring skirt extending about the perimeter of the lower portion of the structure and outward from the anchoring enclosure for resting along the seabed and preventing water movement from disturbing the embedded bottom extension. The anchoring enclosure may be rendered sufficiently buoyant to be easily towed to a selected site of a body of water without the need for large and expensive equipment and to then be rendered less buoyant so as to sink, in a controlled manner, to the seabed.

  • Patent number: 6768217
Abstract: A known type of surface wave energy converter comprises a submerged elongated tube supported by, but being vertically movable relative to, an anchored float. The tube vertically reciprocates in response to overpassing surface waves and drives a transducer for generating useful energy. Improvements include: a motion translator between the tube and the transducer for reducing the stroke length of the transducer and magnifying the force transmitted to the transducer; an energy buffer system for limiting the travel of the tube in response to excessively large surface waves; a gravity anchor for the system for absorbing energy from even greater amplitude waves; means for adjusting buoyancy in response to changing conditions, and pressure relief valves for automatically reducing excessive tube driving pressures caused by excessively large overpassing waves. Energy present in tilting movements of the apparatus are optionally captured in horizontally disposed transducers.
