Publication number: 20240370950Abstract: Distributed energy resources (DERs) are remotely controlled devices that are connected to the electric grid and can affect the grid. The effect could be the result of consuming electricity, generating electricity, or storing electricity. Common examples of DERs include thermostats, electric vehicles (EVs), home batteries, and electric water heaters. DERs may be controlled to take advantage of multiple incentive programs offered by one or more incentive providers. The DER optimization may involve interacting with a carbon marketplace, a renewable energy credit marketplace, or both. A customer may provide preference data that indicates preferred and acceptable values for conditions of one or more DERs. Multiple incentives are combined into a single price signal. Based on the price signal and customer preference data, a schedule for energy consumption is generated. One or more DERs are controlled according to the generated schedule.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2024Publication date: November 7, 2024Inventors: William Blanchard, Manas Verma, David Cole

Publication number: 20180321651Abstract: The present technology is directed to a system and method for regulating and optimizing energy consumption within a home based on intelligent control of electrical appliances and home-run circuits. The present technology taps into home-run circuits at the circuit breaker box in order to extract select set of parameters from current and voltage waveform required to identify the type and ON/OFF state of appliances or devices connected to each of the home run circuits. Therefore generating an active device list from which it construct contextual scene that reflect the level of occupancy and the condition of energy consumption in the house (i.e., where individuals are and what they are doing). Based on this information the present technology controls the actuation of home-run circuits, as well as the operation of HVAC system and a series of smart devices/systems in such a way so as to optimize the overall home/office energy consumption.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2018Publication date: November 8, 2018Inventors: William Blanchard, Allen Nikka

Patent number: 10052249Abstract: A patient support includes a frame, a patient support surface supported at the frame, a display incorporated into the frame, and a user interface incorporated into the frame. The patient support frame includes a controller incorporated into the frame, which has a plurality of prompts stored therein. The user interface is in communication with the controller and may be used to select a selected prompt from the plurality of prompts stored in the controller. When a prompt is selected, the controller generates a display image or text associated with the selected prompt at the display in response to a passage of time or an input to provide a visual prompt to the user.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2015Date of Patent: August 21, 2018Assignee: Stryker CorporationInventors: Derick Elliott, David Mayen Moreno, Martin Plante, Chad Rohrer, David Kim Soui Wan Fong, Annie Desaulniers, Jeffrey Joseph Thompson, Dennis John Wrobleski, Frederick William Blanchard

Patent number: 8789222Abstract: A patient support apparatus is provided. The patient support apparatus includes a plurality of therapeutic devices including a rotation device and a percussion-vibration device for carrying out rotation, percussion, and vibration therapy for a patient. The patient support apparatus includes a control system for controlling operation of the plurality of therapeutic devices. The control system comprises a touch-screen display segmented into a main menu portion and a data window portion. The therapeutic functions are represented by touch selectable buttons on the main menu portion. When any of these buttons are selected, a plurality of adjustable operating parameters appears in the data window portion. At the same time, the buttons corresponding to the therapeutic functions in the main menu portion remain visible such that an operator can easily select another therapeutic function. A method of tracking the therapeutic functions performed is provided.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2013Date of Patent: July 29, 2014Assignee: Stryker CorporationInventors: Frederick William Blanchard, Jeffrey Joseph Thompson, Dennis John Wrobleski, Michael Sterling Smith

Publication number: 20060284102Abstract: Apparatus for generating ions in a gaseous medium, the apparatus including two electrodes separated by a dielectric material and a means for generating radio frequency pulses. The electrodes are of dissimilar size and are attached to opposite sides of the dielectric material. The smaller electrode shape and circumference is configured to control the quantity of plasma that is produced. Method of generating ions in a gaseous medium having the step of applying a radio frequency voltage between two electrodes separated by a dielectric material so as to generate a plasma ion source. Locating the plasma ion source in a confined area to yield NO3-ions. Locating the plasma ion source in an open configuration to yield predominantly CO3-ions with minor amounts of O2- and O3-ions.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2004Publication date: December 21, 2006Inventor: William Blanchard
