Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and article of manufacture for authenticating a processing system accessing a resource. An association of processing system identifiers with resources, including a first and second resources, is maintained. A request from a requesting processing system in a host is received for use of a first resource that provides access to a second resource, wherein the request is generated by processing system software and wherein the request further includes a submitted processing system identifier included in the request by host hardware in the host. A determination is made as to whether the submitted processing system identifier is one of the processing system identifiers associated with the first and second resources. The requesting processing system is provided access to the first resource that the processing system uses to access the second resource.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method, a computer program product and a system for managing virtual instances of a physical port attached to a network. The method is based on the Fiber Channel N_Port virtualisation for a physical Fibre Channel N_Port. Multiple virtual Fibre Channel adapters share a single physical N_Port among multiple operating system instances. The invention discloses means for the automatic and persistent generation and administration of unique Worldwide Port Names needed for the N_Port virtualisation.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, apparatus, and computer-usable program code to generate unique identifiers for a logically partitioned and/or virtualized data processing system. A number of computing entities supported by the data processing system are identified to form a number of identified entities. A set of unique identifiers is generated based upon the number of identified entities. A unique identifier from the set of unique identifiers is assigned to a logical computing entity during operation of the data processing system.

Abstract: A method of performing memory mapped input output operations to an alternate address space comprising: establishing a first instruction directed to a first memory mapped input output alternate address space associated with an adapter to store data in accordance with a definition of a z/Architecture; establishing a second instruction directed to the first memory mapped input output alternate address space associated with an adapter to load data in accordance with a definition of a z/Architecture; allocating at least one of a real resource and a virtual resource associated with the first alternate address space to a process; ensuring that the selected process corresponds with the process to which the resource is allocated. The process issues at least one of the first instruction and the second instruction and thereby causes execution of at least one of the store and load with the first alternate address space.

Abstract: A display system including a frame defining a storage area for samples of an article to be displayed, a first structure for holding an article in a display position, and an element cooperating between the first structure and frame for allowing selective repositioning of the first structure relative to the frame between (A) a first position wherein (a) at least one of the first structure and an article in the display position on the first structure substantially blocks the storage area from view from a front display viewing vantage point and (b) an article in the display position on the first structure is viewable from the front display viewing vantage point and (B) a second position wherein the storage area is at least partially exposed so that samples in the storage area are accessible from the front of the display system. The storage area includes a plurality of vertically spaced shelves each defining a storage receptacle for articles.
