  • Patent number: 5956851
Abstract: A replaceable razor blade cartridge including a blade unit, and cartridge connecting structure for connecting the blade unit to handle connecting structure of a handle, the cartridge connecting structure having inwardly directed surfaces for mating with outwardly directed surfaces on the handle connecting structure, the blade unit being pivotally connected to the cartridge connecting structure, the cartridge connecting structure including a latching member that is movable to release the cartridge from the handle connecting structure prior to retraction of the cartridge connecting structure from the handle connecting structure.

  • Patent number: 5794343
Abstract: A razor blade assembly includes an elongate platform supporting a pair of blades and an elongate guard member disposed adjacent a forward edge of the platform. The guard member has a plurality of fins each spaced one from the other. In preferred embodiments each fin has its uppermost surface below a rearwardly disposed fin and the uppermost surfaces collectively lie on an outwardly convex arcuate surface, and each successively rearward fin is inclined more towards the leading blade edge than the preceding adjacent fin. The elongate platform is provided with a plurality of apertures extending through the platform between a plurality of webs and the guard member is molded in place onto the platform. Portions of the guard member material flow through the apertures and surround webs during the molding process to maintain the guard member in place.

  • Patent number: 5784790
Abstract: A cartridge-connecting subassembly for a shaving razor handle including a cartridge connecting structure, a handle connecting structure, and a movable component within the cartridge connecting structure that interacts with a replaceable cartridge when it is connected. The cartridge connecting structure and handle connecting structure have outer side surfaces that mate with inwardly directed surfaces of the cartridge and handle so that the subassembly is substantially covered when it is mounted in the handle and a cartridge is connected. The subassembly has an assembly opening for receiving the movable component during assembly, a cartridge interaction opening through which the component is movable for interaction with the cartridge, and blocking structure that retains the movable component in the subassembly. The movable component is an ejector structure that is separate from the cartridge connecting structure. The subassembly is connected to the handle by staking.

  • Patent number: 5526567
Abstract: A shaving system includes a platform member with a support surface that has a plurality of apertures therein and guard structure integral therewith and disposed forwardly of the support surface, a cap member with a plurality of post elements for disposition in the apertures in the support structure, a primary blade member having a planar body and a cutting edge, a secondary blade member having a planar body and a cutting edge, each blade member having a plurality of apertures and at least two of the apertures having spaced locating surfaces for positioning engagement with the post elements, and a plurality of discrete spacer members disposed on the post elements and between the primary and secondary blade members. The post elements extend through the apertures in the blade members, the spacers and the platform member and preferably are mechanically deformed to secure the primary and secondary blade members with their cutting edges in spaced parallel relation in a fixed shaving geometry.
