  • Patent number: 4342239
Abstract: A canopy cutting device, for machining canopies and the like in constricted spaces, including a housing having a base plate, a bearing mounted on the housing, a support for retaining the axis of the bearing in a desired position, a ring gear carriage mounted on the bearing for rotation about the bearing, a cutting tool mounted on the carriage, a pinion gear mounted for rotation on the housing and engageable with the ring gear, a drive shaft connected to the pinion gear, and a feed device for advancing the cutting tool along the axis during rotation of the ring gear thereby permitting removal of a canopy or the like.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 7, 1980
Date of Patent: August 3, 1982

  • Patent number: 4304133
Abstract: A manually operable scanner includes a rectangular frame having suction cups or other mounting devices connectable to a casting or other body to be scanned with a carriage being mounted on the frame for reciprocation in a first direction. A scanner such as an ultrasonic transducer is mounted on the carriage for reciprocation in a direction perpendicular to the direction of movement of the carriage with movement of the carriage and the scanner being sensed by first and second rotary encoders each of which provides an output signal to a display indicative of the position of the transducer with respect to the rectangular frame so that upon a detection of a fault in the body being scanned, the coordinates of location of the fault are immediately available from a visual readout of the coordinates from the display means.

  • Patent number: 4114484
Abstract: A pipe cutting or end prepping device capable of use in severely restricted spaces to cut through or shape for welding a hollow cylindrical pipe wall, which includes a rotatable tool bit support or carriage assembly adapted for insertion through an end of the pipe to be cut and located within the hollow bore of the pipe having one or more tool bits to cut into the pipe wall at the cutting site. A rotatable drive coupler is provided for releasably coupling a drive motor to the tool bit support or carriage for rotating the latter, and an anchor forming assembly in the form of a radially expandable and contractable annular collet forms a cylindrical pipe gripping surface to provide a stationary anchor station along the pipe adjacent the cutting site.
