  • Publication number: 20090042164
Abstract: An orthodontic driver tip according to the invention is configured for screwing and unscrewing an orthodontic bone screw. Such a driver tip includes an elongated inner rod having an enlarged diameter front tip portion with a frontwardly opening recess, which tip portion comprises at least two frontwardly extending resilient arms which define the frontwardly opening recess between them, and a rear connecting portion by which the driver tip can be removably secured to a handle. A sleeve is mounted on the rod rearwardly of the enlarged diameter front tip portion, the sleeve having a front end of lesser diameter than a maximum diameter of the arms of the tip portion. A locking mechanism releasably secures the sleeve against lengthwise movement along the rod when the sleeve is moved forward to a position wherein the arms are bent into engagement with the head of a bone screw disposed inside the front tip portion.

  • Publication number: 20080215099
Abstract: A mechanism for separating the driver tip (28) of a driver tool (27) from an orthodontic bone screw (25) is shown. The mechanism includes a driver sleeve (36) formed with a female thread (38) that is threaded onto a male threaded portion (39) of the driver tool adjacent to the driver tip with the sleeve adapted to engage and push-off the head of the bone screw when rotated sufficiently.

  • Patent number: 6394799
Abstract: Apparatus for the correction of the relative position between the maxillary and the mandibular jaws comprises a first guiding element and a second guiding element. The two guiding elements are mounted in a position lateral to the corresponding dental arch by means of anchoring elements. The two guiding elements are initially disengaged from each other and come together to cooperate only from a pre-set intermediary position of closure of the mandibular jaw toward the maxillary jaw. The two guiding elements constructed so that, from the intermediate closure position, they come into reciprocal contact and form contact surfaces with relative sliding movement. Upon closure of the jaws, the cooperating contact between the two guiding elements exerts automatically a push in a direction of the relative displacement of the maxillary jaw and the mandibular jaw for the assuming of the correct relative position between the maxillary jaw and the mandibular jaw.
