  • Patent number: 10292322
Abstract: A hydraulic system for a farm implement includes a wing elevation circuit, a wing folding circuit, and a hydraulic valve block assembly. The wing elevation circuit lowers or raises the wings of the farm implement relative to a frame of the farm implement between a first position, in which the wings extend approximately collinear with a lateral axis of the frame, and a second position, in which the wings extend beneath the lateral axis of the frame. The wing folding circuit folds or unfolds the wings between the first position and a transport position, in which the wings are rotated beyond a vertical axis transverse to the lateral axis. The hydraulic valve block assembly is in communication with the wing elevation circuit and the wing folding circuit and controls hydraulic fluid flow in the wing elevation circuit and in the wing folding circuit.

  • Patent number: 6257343
Abstract: A folding row marker assembly for use with an agricultural implement has an inner link assembly that includes both a mounting that attaches to the agricultural implement and one or more inner link members. The row marker further includes first arm members that hingedly connect to both the first link assembly and an outer link assembly. In one embodiment, the folding row marker assembly has two sections, including an outer arm member that hingedly connects to the outer link assembly and connects to a marker. In an alternative three-section embodiment, the outer link assembly includes a middle section having a middle link assembly that connects to the inner arm members, an outboard link assembly that connects to the outer arm member, and middle arm members that connect the middle link assembly to the outboard link assembly.

  • Patent number: 6068061
Abstract: An apparatus and method for tilling a seedbed with a soil manipulation device comprising a tilling shank for forming a groove in the soil followed a pair of coulter blades for closing the groove and a rear finishing device such as a rolling basket for further tilling and firming of the soil with improved coulter downward pressure and shank head. Downward pressure on the coulter blades is provided by a coulter spring attached to a lever arm pivotally attached to the framework which applies downward pressure to the framework supporting the coulter blades. The rear finishing device is connected to the same coulter support framework by a pivotal rear arm and a rear arm spring such that when the rear finishing device is displaced upward by changing field conditions, an upward force is imparted to the coulter support framework thus raising the coulter blades in response to changing field conditions.

  • Patent number: 5785472
Abstract: A transport wagon includes convertible support brackets for alternatively carrying different pieces of farm equipment, such as a grain platform or a corn header. Each convertible support bracket has a first support member pivotally connected to a second support member. The first support member has a support surface and can move between a first position for supporting part of an article to be carried and a second position for allowing the second support member, which has a support surface, to support part of a different article to be carried. The brackets can be slidably mounted on the frame of the transport cart. The brackets can be moved to one position for transporting a first article such as a grain platform. The brackets also can be moved to a second position for transporting a second article such as a corn header.

  • Patent number: 5704430
Abstract: An improved row cleaning apparatus to selectively clean away residue from conservation tilled fields without cultivation of the soil. When mounted on tractor-drawn implements, including planters, the cleaning action of the present invention improves depth control and planting speed of the planter unit while retaining the residue between crop rows for erosion control and yield enhancement. The row cleaner comprises a pair of toothed wheels rotatably operating in lateral opposition to one another and journalled for rotation each on an axis disposed obliquely to the path of travel of the apparatus. The wheels are mounted asymmetrically relative to each other, the teeth being curved downwardly and forwardly toward the path of movement to drive the wheels in rotation, thereby untangling and selectively clearing residue and other mulch from the path of the trailing planter unit.

  • Patent number: 5623997
Abstract: A soil manipulation device is provided for closing a groove in soil formed by a soil tiller shank. The device includes a frame connected to a rear portion of the tiller shank and a pair of rotatable coulter blades mounted on the frame for engaging soil behind the tiller shank. The coulter blades are positioned on opposite sides of the groove so as to close the groove in the soil behind the tiller shank. The coulter blades are selectively movable and positionable in directions toward and away from each other so as to vary the distance between the coulter blades. The coulter blades also are selectively movable and positionable in a substantially vertical direction with respect to the frame, so as to permit variation in depth of coulter blade penetration into the soil.
