  • Patent number: 9724553
Abstract: A method of varying a resistive force applied by exercise equipment including providing a resistance band assembly for providing resistive force during the performance of an exercise. The resistance band assembly includes a housing having a first end, a second end, and a longitudinal axis extending therebetween. A bore is defined in the housing and a connector is provided in the bore. The connector includes first and second surfaces and a hole is defined in the connector and extends between the surfaces. A disc is also provided in the bore and also has a first and second surface. An aperture is defined in the disc and extends between the first and second surfaces thereof. A first and second resilient member is provided and these resilient members are selectively engageable with the resistance band assembly to provide a first resistive force during the performance of an exercise.

  • Patent number: 9729001
Abstract: Far field telemetry operations are conducted between an external device and an implantable medical device while power is being transferred to the implantable medical device for purposes of recharging a battery of the implantable medical device. The far field operations may include exchanging recharge information that has been collected by the implantable medical device which allows the external device to exercise control over the recharge process. The far field operations may include suspending far field telemetry communications for periods of time while power continues to be transferred where suspending far field telemetry communications may include powering down far field telemetry communication circuits of the implantable medical device for periods of time which may conserve energy. The far field operations may further include transferring programming instructions to the implantable medical device.

  • Patent number: 9727482
Abstract: Method and apparatus to efficiently manage data in caches. Data in caches may be managed based on priorities assigned to the data. Data may be requested by a process using a virtual address of the data. The requested data may be assigned a priority by a component in a computer system called an address range priority assigner (ARP). The ARP may assign a particular priority to the requested data if the virtual address of the requested data is within a particular range of virtual addresses. The particular priority assigned may be high priority and the particular range of virtual addresses may be smaller than a cache's capacity.

  • Publication number: 20170215976
Abstract: Telerobotic, telesurgical, and/or surgical robotic devices, systems, and methods employ surgical robotic linkages that may have more degrees of freedom than an associated surgical end effector in space. A processor can calculate a tool motion that includes pivoting of the tool about an aperture site. Linkages movable along a range of configurations for a given end effector position may be driven toward configurations which inhibit collisions. Refined robotic linkages and methods for their use are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20170218541
Abstract: A multi-carrier, zonal weaving system and method of manufacturing a zonal woven material is provided. The multi-carrier system includes a first weft yarn, a second weft yarn, and one or more intermediate warp yarns for wrapping by the first and second weft yarns. The zonal weaving method includes receiving a first weft yarn from a first origin via a first shed, wrapping it around one or more zonal warp yarns, and returned to the first weft origin after the first shed upper and lower yarns are exchanged. In further aspects, a second weft yarn is received from a second weft origin via a second shed, wrapped around the same intermediate, zonal warp yarns, and returned to the second weft origin after exchange of the second shed yarns. In one aspect, the first and second weft yarns are interlocked during wrapping of the common warp yarns.

  • Publication number: 20170220973
Abstract: An automated assessment process for rating, integrating, and reporting for assessment centers, based upon research is described, that takes the place of the traditional manual, clinical process, and corrects for potential human biases present using traditional assessment processes. The automated assessment process includes providing an assessment to a participant and receiving behavior ratings for one or more associated behaviors demonstrated by the participant during the assessment. The automated process also includes determining an initial competency rating based upon the behavior ratings. Each initial competency rating is combined with non-simulation assessment results and a final competency rating is determined for each competency being assessed. A report is then automatically generated that includes the final competency rating for each competency being assessed.

  • Publication number: 20170223388
Abstract: A system includes a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations including sending, via a transmitter, a primary video stream corresponding to a particular channel to a media device. The operations further include sending a secondary video stream to the media device. The secondary video stream is associated with a lower quality level than the primary video stream. Transmission of a frame of the secondary video stream is delayed with respect to transmission of a corresponding frame of the primary video stream.

  • Publication number: 20170216860
Abstract: The present invention relates to self-foaming hot melt adhesive compositions and methods of making and using the same. Self-foaming hot melt adhesive compositions are formed by admixing a dispersion concentrate including a chemical blowing agent and a compatible carrier (liquid or molten) with a molten base hot melt adhesive composition at a temperature below the decomposition temperature of the chemical blowing agent. The resolidified material is processed through a device that heats the material above the decomposition temperature of the chemical agent and cools it below such temperature before being dispensed. The device preferably includes sensors and a controller configured to prevent the material from accumulating an adverse thermal history during processing.

  • Patent number: 9719040
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a binder-free product and process for making the product. The product is a mechanically stable, water resistant torrefied biomass product that does not comprise an extrinsic binder additive. The product is made using a combination of appropriate pre-treatment steps and compressing the conditioned biomass feedstock into a thermally managed compaction device comprising at least one modified die. The modified die allows for differential cooling/heating modifications so as to control the temperature near the entrance to the compaction device and passing the formed torrefied biomass into a post-formation curing zone.

  • Patent number: 9719316
Abstract: A slip assembly is in two pieces that move relatively to each other to facilitate release. The wicker portion is dovetailed to the base near a center underside location and at the edges. A positive travel stop converts the initial relative movement into tandem movement of the base and the wicker segment after a predetermined relative movement that has resulted in release. Adjacent components prevent relative movement during the radially outward movement for setting the assembly during which there is tandem movement of the base portion and the wicker portion. The two portions can be initially attached with a breakable member that fails during the release movement.

  • Patent number: 9717573
Abstract: A dental restoration method that eliminates time-consuming, labor-intensive steps conventionally needed to fabricate molds, and thereby facilitates dental restorations in a shorter time, while reducing the discomfort and embarrassment sometimes associated with provisional restorations involves scanning an existing dental structure to generate a three-dimensional digital model of the existing dental structure, generating a three-dimensional digital model corresponding with a planned dental structure, and using an additive manufacturing process and apparatus (e.g., a 3-D printer) to fabricate the planned dental structure directly on the existing dental structure.
