  • Publication number: 20070145282
Abstract: Systems and methods are presented herein for generating an X-ray image wherein the X-ray image generator has no electrical connection with an X-ray source which generates the X-rays. The X-ray image generator comprises a screen which converts at least a portion of the X-rays generated by the source into light; a mirror which reflects the light such that a light-measuring device is focused on the screen, a photon detector which triggers the light measuring device when it detects photons related to the generated X-rays, and a computer connected to at least the light-measuring device which processes the output from the light-measuring device into an image displayable on a computer screen.

  • Publication number: 20070127581
Abstract: A method and apparatus for data transmission at energy efficient rates. An embodiment of an apparatus includes a port for the transfer of data. The port has an active state in which the port may transmit or receive data and an inactive state in which the port does not transmit or receive data. The apparatus further includes logic to control the transfer of data. The logic places the port into the active state for a first time period for the transfer of data and places the port into the inactive state for a second time period. The logic further prevents transfer of data during the inactive state.

  • Patent number: 7228404
Abstract: A computer. When an instruction calling for an architecturally-visible side-effect in an architecturally-visible storage location is recognized, a value is stored representative of an architecturally-visible representation of the side-effect, a format of the representative value being different than an architecturally-visible representation of the side-effect. Execution is resumed without generating the architecturally-visible side-effect. Later, the architecturally-visible representation corresponding to the representative value is written into the architecturally-visible storage location. On a context switch, a context of a first process is written and a context of a second process is loaded to place the second process into execution. At least some instructions maintain results in storage resources outside the context resource set, and instructions are marked to indicate whether or not a context switch may be performed at a boundary of the marked instruction.

  • Publication number: 20060231019
Abstract: A method of providing an extruded tire tread (T) with anti-static properties. In this method, a pin (10) is coated with an electrically conductive material (M). The coated pin (10) pierces the tire tread (T) to form an opening (12) of the desired depth and then is withdrawn. During withdrawal of the pin (10), the material (M) remains in the pierced opening (12) so that a conductive body (14) is formed in the tire tread (T). The pin (10) can then be re-coated with the material (M) and the cycle repeated to produce a plurality of conductive bodies (14) in the tire tread (T).

  • Publication number: 20060215665
Abstract: A telecommunications network is provided, comprising a plurality of network elements, switching means, and a traffic stream controller, wherein, for each network element, there is provided a set of outgoing paths from the network element to the switching means, one outgoing path carrying traffic streams for each of the network elements, and an incoming path carrying traffic streams from the switching means to the network element, the switching means merges each outgoing path carrying traffic streams for the network element onto the incoming path of the network element, to route traffic streams from each of the network elements to the network element, and routing of the traffic streams to the network element is controlled by the network element using the traffic stream controller. The telecommunications network thus comprises a merged mesh of paths, which fully interconnects all of the network elements. Each outgoing path and incoming path may comprise a permanent virtual path (PVP).

  • Publication number: 20050094391
Abstract: A dual mode or multimode backlight containing LEDs as a light source. The backlight has light cavity containing a reflective material. The cavity has an opening to allow light to be directed to a display source such as a liquid crystal display (LCD). Two sets of LEDs are provided, one set for day mode and one set for night mode. The night mode LEDs is fitted with an NVIS filter. The day mode LEDs is fitted with a filter that suppresses the phosphorescence from the day mode LEDs. The filter suppress the IR energy and allows maximum luminance from the day mode LEDs. During night mode operation, the backlight is flooded with light. Filtered light from the NVIS LED's would impinge on the day mode LED's causing them to phosphoresce. The filter over the day mode LEDs removes the infrared energy from the phosphorescent light emitted from the day mode LEDs.

  • Publication number: 20050023214
Abstract: A wastewater treatment product prepared from seaweed and a process for the treatment of wastewater. In a first step, seaweed is mixed with a preservative, micro-nutrient, oxygen-containing, and antifungal component. In the second step, the product of the first step is then mixed with a humic acid additive along with an oxygen-based component and a lactobacillus/aloe component to achieve the final product. This final product is then spread over the surface of the wastewater in sufficient quantities to see a reduction in the BOD, TSS, ammonia, and phosphorus, while at the same time minimizing the amount of sludge removal.
