  • Patent number: 10638299
Abstract: A system and method for initiating communications between a first wireless device and a second wireless device. The method includes the steps of detecting the status of the first wireless device, notifying the second wireless device via a scrolling ticker message based on the detecting step and establishing a communication session between the first and second wireless devices. The detecting step includes generating an alert based on a predefined event. The system for establishing a communication path between a first mobile device and a second mobile device includes an IMS core, a presence server communicatively coupled to the IMS core and in communication with the first mobile device, a scrolling ticker server in communication with the presence server and with the second mobile device, wherein the presence server communicates availability of the first mobile device and the scrolling ticker notifies the second mobile device of the availability of the first mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9414130
Abstract: A media device includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions corresponding to an overlay application and a media playback application. The instructions are executable by the processor to perform various operations. The operations may include obtaining media content identified in a manifest and using the media playback application to generate a display that includes the media content. Responsive to a trigger in the manifest, the operations also include retrieving the overlay application from the memory and executing the overlay application to allocate a portion of the display to interactive content indicated by the manifest.

  • Patent number: 8737357
Abstract: A user is enabled to seamlessly switch between networks and/or devices, during a content delivery session. A network change detection component can determine when the user switches from one network to another. Further, a context management component is employed that stores a context state of the content delivery session on the first network when a change in network is detected. The context state is employed to seamlessly resume content delivery on the newly connected network and continue the content delivery session.

  • Publication number: 20110125579
Abstract: Apparatus, methods and/or computer program products are provided that facilitate selecting a search engine for performing a search request by soliciting bids from a plurality of search engine services. The search request is awarded to a search engine service that submits a bid that best satisfies user criteria, such as search engine preference, search results format preference, and price. Apparatus, methods and/or computer program products also are provided that facilitate submitting a bid for the right to provide search results for a user search request. The search engine service with the winning bid performs a search using the search request, acquires advertising to be displayed with the search results, and provides the search results and advertising to the user. The search engine service pays the user and/or a network service provider a portion of advertising revenue.
