Patent number: 8850524Abstract: Resetting a password for a network service account may include redirecting the user to a password reset tool, wherein the user is blocked from network access other than the password reset tool while being redirected. After redirecting the user to the password reset tool, user entry of verification information may be accepted, and the verification information from the user may be compared with known verification information for the user. User entry of a new password may be accepted if the verification information accepted from the user matches the known verification information for the user; and the new password may be stored as the known password for the user. Related systems and computer-program products are also discussed.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2008Date of Patent: September 30, 2014Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Scott Morris, William Conner

Patent number: 8090778Abstract: A method involves blocking unsolicited e-mail being transmitted from a remote server when a roaming customer of the ISP logs onto the Internet through the foreign NAS. The roaming customer first logs onto the ISP through the foreign NAS by providing a user identification (USERID) and password, which are sent to the ISP. The ISP uses the USERID and the password to authenticate the roaming customer as a valid subscriber of the ISP. An IP address is assigned by the foreign NAS to the roaming customer and is dynamically added to a pool of IP addresses used by the mail server. The roaming customer can then log onto the mail server to send and receive email messages. Once the roaming customer terminates the session, the IP address assigned to the roaming customer is removed from the pool of valid IP address that can be used to access the mail server.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2006Date of Patent: January 3, 2012Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Dale W. Patent number: 8069472Abstract: Exemplary embodiments include methods, systems, and storage mediums for implementing issue notification and resolution activities. A method includes receiving a request for access to a network service from an end user client system associated with an account. Upon determining an issue is associated with the account, the method includes flagging a user profile for the account to reflect the issue. Flagging accounts includes assigning a unique flag for each type of issue for determining a location for routing the request associated with flagged user profiles. The method also includes redirecting the request for access to a web server of the service provider network. Upon successful resolution of the issue, the method includes providing access to the network service for the end user client system.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2009Date of Patent: November 29, 2011Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Scott Morris, Stephen Cersosimo, William Conner

Patent number: 7587753Abstract: Exemplary embodiments include methods, systems, and storage mediums for implementing issue notification and resolution activities. The method includes receiving a request for access to a network service from a user associated with an account that has been flagged as having an issue. The method also includes redirecting the request for access, transmitting a notification of the issue and instructions for resolving the issue to the user, and deferring further access to network services without terminating the account pending a resolution of the issue.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2004Date of Patent: September 8, 2009Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property, I, L.P.Inventors: Scott Morris, Stephen Cersosimo, William Conner

Publication number: 20070118411Abstract: Auto insurance customers can be transitioned from an initial rating algorithm A to a subsequent algorithm B by phasing in the transition over a period of several years. The premium charged during the transition period is equal to the premium calculated under the rating algorithm B minus a premium adjustment. The premium adjustment is given by the difference between the premium according to algorithm B minus the legacy premium from algorithm A, said difference being multiplied by a rating transition factor. The rating transition factor may be a linearly decreasing function which has a value of 1 just before the transition period and a value of zero at the end of the transition period. The transition period may be in the range of 3 to 8 years long.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2006Publication date: May 24, 2007Inventors: William Conner, Geoffrey Arnold, Marlowe Leibensperger
