  • Publication number: 20070112275
Abstract: An approach for improving the chances of survival of an individual who has received a trauma including, for example, hemorrhage or blunt injury, by providing more relevant information regarding the individual to first responders including at least one of heart rate variability index value, a baroreflex sensitivity value, and a pulse pressure. This information being used in at least one implementation to provide medical treatment to injured individuals including dispatching assistance and/or prioritizing in a triage situation increasing the speed at which these decisions can be made. In one exemplary embodiment, the heart rate variability index value is determined based on the relative power of the high frequencies versus the relative power of the low frequencies. In one exemplary embodiment, the pulse pressure is determined based on the difference between systolic pressure and diastolic pressure.

  • Publication number: 20060217938
Abstract: The invention described herein details a protocol to improve analysis and peak identification in spectroscopic data. Bayesian methods are used to automatically identify peaks in data sets. After identifying peak shapes, the method tests the hypothesis that a given number of peaks is found within any given data window. If a peak is identified within a given window, then the likelihood function is maximized in order to estimate peak position and amplitude. This process yields a spectrum with high resolution and minimal artifacts. The method described herein is particularly useful for identifying peaks in data sets obtained from spectroscopy.

  • Patent number: 7043329
Abstract: There is disclosed a method for making a pressure garment, comprising the steps of: defining 3D shape and pressure profile characteristics of a garment; specifying a knitting pattern for the garment; calculating yarn feed data for the knitting pattern to produce the defined shape and pressure profile characteristics; and, knitting the garment according to the knitting pattern and the yarn feed data.
