  • Publication number: 20020027121
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a tamper-indicating closure having a plurality of resilient flexible projections bent upwardly and radially inwardly at a predetermined radius of curvature. The first step in the method includes providing a mold assembly comprising a female mold portion for forming the outer surface of the closure and a male mold portion for forming the closure's inner surface and its plurality of projections. The male and female mold portions are arranged for relative movement toward and away from each other between a mold open position and a mold closed position. When in the mold closed position, the male and female mold portions define a mold cavity in which the tamper-indicating closure is molded.

  • Patent number: 5645515
Abstract: An improved spring-loaded parallelogram stilt. An improved leg support attachment is provided in which the leg support is attached by a capturing bracket to the rearward vertical support. A nut and bolt pass through the capturing bracket, the bottom of the leg support and through a plastic block captured within the inside of the hollow tubular vertical leg support. A yoke structure is provided at the shoe platform level for providing further connection and adjustable support for the leg support. The yoke structure is of two pieces which surround the tubular leg support and has an inner surface made of a resilient material. The yoke structure is slidably engaged with a slot in a bracket attached to the outside of the shoe platform. The lower leg support attachment employing the capturing bracket and the yoke structure serve to prevent the leg support from accidentally becoming detached from the stilt.

  • Patent number: 4864042
Abstract: A supported silver catalyst for the oxidation of ethylene to ethylene oxide with molecular oxygen is made by impregnating a support with a hydrocarbon solution of a silver salt of a neo-acid having 7 or more carbon atoms, substantially free of water and said neo-acid. Preferably, the hydrocarbon solvent is toluene, xylene, ethyl benzene, cyclohexane, or cumene. The impregnated support is dried and the silver is activated under conditions chosen to provide the optimum selectivity to ethylene oxide. Thereafter, the activated silver catalyst maybe impregnated with an alkali metal solution sufficient to increase selectivity of the silver catalyst above its alkali-free state. The amount of alkali metal on the finished catalyst is the optimum for the particular support selected and preferably will be about 1-6.times.10.sup.-3 gew/kg of catalyst. The catalyst may also include additional promoters, such as the alkaline earth metals, preferbly barium.

  • Patent number: 4842467
Abstract: A self-tapping screw for use on concrete and masonry structures is disclosed. The screw has a helically threaded shank of uniform diameter. The crest diameter of the helical thread on the shank has a taper which increases gradually from the tip or entering end of the shank for a predetermined distance along the shank and then has a uniform diameter over the remaining portion of the helical thread. The helical threads have a spacing of 5-8 threads per inch for screw sizes in the range of 1/2 to 3/16 inch. Thread cutting notches are formed in the threads over at least the tapered portion thereof. The screw is hardened to a Rockwell "C" hardness of 48 or greater.

  • Patent number: 4841080
Abstract: A supported silver catalyst for the oxidation of ethylene with molecular oxygen to ethylene oxide is made by depositing silver on a support capable of selectively adsorbing alkali metals, activating the silver under conditions chosen to provide the optimum selectivity of ethylene oxide and thereafter depositing an amount of an alkali metal sufficient to increase selectivity of the silver catalyst above its alkali-free state. The catalyst most preferably employs a ceramic support having a surface area of 0.3-0.8 m.sup.2 /gm. The amount of alkali metal on the finished catalyst is most preferably 50-300 ppm by weight. The catalyst may also include additional promoters, such as the alkaline earth metals, preferably barium.

  • Patent number: 4342667
Abstract: A supported silver catalyst for oxidation of ethylene to ethylene oxide is prepared by impregnation of the support, activation, and solvent washing, with each step being carried out at a relatively low temperature. Silver so deposited has an average particle diameter of about 0.5-0.7 microns and is capable of being promoted by post-deposition of alkali metals such as cesium, rubidium, and potassium.
