  • Patent number: 11373545
Abstract: Described herein are kits and methods for identifying the likelihood of having a food sensitivity or intolerance, and determining dietary modifications accordingly. For example, the likelihood of having sensitivities, intolerances or allergies to gluten, lactose, FODMAPs and others tested and calculated. Additionally, diet modifications can be determined according to the likelihood of particular sensitivities, and the effectiveness of diet modifications can be evaluated by monitoring of meals and subsequent symptoms, and evaluating the monitoring information. Through application of the methods herein, dietary intake and symptom data may be collected and aggregated to evaluate the effect or desirability of particular foods on a population of interest.

  • Publication number: 20220039751
Abstract: An anorectal expulsion device includes a balloon having a wall that extends between proximal and distal ends of the balloon and defines a balloon interior. The balloon interior contains a self-expanding, low compression-set material (e.g., open cell foam). The device also includes a catheter that extends through the proximal end of the balloon and at least a portion of the balloon interior. An interior of the catheter is in fluid communication with the balloon interior. The device also includes a termination component (e.g., a cap or a valve) coupled to the catheter at a position along the catheter that is outside of and proximal to the proximal end of the balloon (e.g., at the proximal end of the catheter). The physical configuration of the termination component is adjustable, and controls whether the balloon interior is in fluid communication with the external environment.

  • Patent number: 9743857
Abstract: A probe system includes a finger-mountable housing having a distal end and a proximal receptacle end. The proximal receptacle end defines an opening to receive a finger. The probe system also includes a probe assembly disposed on or within the finger-mountable housing and having at least a first sensor. The first sensor is positioned to measure a physical characteristic of a first tissue when the finger-mountable housing and probe assembly are inserted in a rectum of the patient.

  • Publication number: 20160140316
Abstract: The present disclosure is generally related to automatically evaluating medical patient symptoms and, more specifically, to systems and methods for providing tailored prescriptions, multi-dimensional patient matching and symptom monitoring. In particular, a medical patient completes a questionnaire, responses to the questionnaire are correlated with information obtained from a medical knowledge resource and an integrated symptoms summary is generated based on the responses to the questionnaire and the information obtained from the medical knowledge resource. A tailored prescription is provided to the patient based on the integrated symptoms summary and physician consultation (if applicable), patients are compared to other patients according to questionnaire responses so that they can connect with each other if they chose, and patients are able to monitor symptoms over time so that they can gain insight into whether treatments are working.
