  • Patent number: 4995837
Abstract: A testing device such as a network analyzer is joined to a test unit, such as a circulator, by an electrical precision test connector 1 having an electrical conductor 2 with conductive end portions 34 and 40, a hollow, bipartite shell 3 and a dielectric insert 4 as part of the conductor 2, the electrical conductor 2 further comprising a flexible, slotted contact end portion 24 with flat, opposing contact surfaces 36 and 37 with the slotted end portion being pinched 38 for a slideable, clamping engagement, above and below, with an inserted tab connector and the hollow, bipartite shell 3 having an end contact surface 24 and being spring biased to provide complete electrical contact with a corresponding portion of the test unit 54 during connection.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4936800
Abstract: A testing device such as a network analyzer is joined to a test unit, such as a circulator, by an electrical precision test connector 1 having an electrical conductor 2 with conductive end parts 34 and 40, a hollow, bipartite shell 3 and a dielectric insert 4 securing the conductor 2 in place, the electrical conductor 2 comprising a flexible, slotted contact end portion 34 with flat, opposing contact surfaces 36 and 37 with the slotted end portion being pinched 38 for a slideable, clamping engagement, above and below, with an inserted tab connector and the hollow, bipartite shell 3 having an end contact surface 24 and being spring biased at 45 to provide complete electrical contact with a corresponding portion of the test unit 60 during connection.

  • Patent number: 4921447
Abstract: A method of terminating a malleable external shield (16) of a malleable coaxial cable (2) is carried out by inserting an end of the cable (2) into a tubular connector body (5) through one end (41) thereof and driving a shield gripping tubular metal member (8) surrounding the cable (2) into the connector body (5) from the one end (41) thereof so that the shield gripping member (8) tightly grips the cable shield (16), an external peripheral end flange (38) on the shield gripping member (8) being proximate to the one end (41) of the connector body (5). In order to afford strain relief for the electrical connection between the shield gripping member (8) and the cable shield (16), a solder ring (48) surrounding the cable (2) is held on the flange (38) and an induction heating ring (50) is employed to melt the solder ring (48) to provide a solder fillet (52) rigidly connecting the flange (38) to the cable shield (16).

  • Patent number: 4600262
Abstract: An electrical connector containing removable contacts upon which there are mounted electrical circuit components. One or more such components may be mounted on the side of each contact body. A spring provides electrical connection between the components and the grounding plate in the connector containing openings into which the contacts are removably mounted.

  • Patent number: 4582385
Abstract: An electrical connector containing contacts upon which there are mounted electrical circuit components. A component is mounted on the side of each contact. A ground plate in the connector shell embodies a spring tang for each contact that provides electrical connection between the component and the shell. Matching polarizing surfaces on each contact and the wall of its corresponding contact cavity correctly positions the contact so that the electrical component thereon will be engaged by the spring tang.
