Patent number: 8151204Abstract: A document management and thumbnail image viewing system enables a user to display separate pages in individual different documents as well as to expand an image to view more detail in a single document, move pages across documents, and insert/delete pages or documents. A document management and viewing system includes a user interface for providing data representing a single composite display image including multiple reduced size images of individual pages of a first document and multiple reduced size images of individual pages of a different second document. The single composite display image includes at least one indicator identifying a transition between pages of the first and second documents and enables a user to select and move a page from the first document to the second document. A document processor updates stored data representing the first and second documents in response to a command entered using the single composite display image.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2007Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc.Inventors: William D. Lusen, Frank W. Racis, Kay L. Davis, Margaret Eden, Jeffrey T. Phillips

Patent number: 7343385Abstract: The invention is directed to a system for processing data to be stored in a document-imaging system that includes a posting processor programmed for receiving at least one object containing the data; a bursting processor programmed for bursting the object to create at least one bursted object; an index extraction processor programmed for extracting indexing information on the bursted object; and a communication processor programmed for transmitting the transformed bursted object and the indexing information to the document-imaging system. The invention may further include a transformation processor for transforming the bursted object and a user interface for configuring the system.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2005Date of Patent: March 11, 2008Assignee: Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc.Inventors: William D. Publication number: 20070179814Abstract: A document deficiency processing system enables a clinician to complete a deficiency by filling and electronically signing a form online using a form template created and associated with a particular document type and automatically initiates sending the filled form to a patient record. A healthcare document processing system for processing a document deficiency preventing a patient record from being designated complete, includes a repository of form information associating an individual form with a document type. A workflow processor automatically employs the repository to identify a particular form, in response to receiving data indicating a document having a particular document type is missing from a record of a particular patient. The workflow processor automatically initiates communication of a message to a user to prompt the user to complete the particular form on-line. An interface initiates communication of data representing the filled in particular form to the record of the particular patient.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2006Publication date: August 2, 2007Applicant: SIEMENS MEDICAL SOLUTIONS HEALTH SERVICES CORPORATIONInventors: Andres Hernandez, William D. Lusen, Frank W. Racis

Patent number: 7136883Abstract: The invention is directed to a system for managing storage of an object in a storage system having a plurality of different storage media divided into different partitions, which includes a storage processor for determining whether a particular storage partition has reached a predetermined capacity threshold; a data migration processor for identifying within the particular storage partition an object to be moved and for identifying a target destination partition for the particular object in response to the capacity determination, the migration processor identifying the target destination partition based on one or more selected from the group consisting of (a) media type of the particular storage partition, and (b) information identifying related objects in the target destination partition; and a transfer processor for transferring data representing the particular object to the target destination partition.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2002Date of Patent: November 14, 2006Assignee: Siemens Medial Solutions Health Services CorporationInventors: Bruce M. Flamma, William D. Lusen, Frank W. Racis

Patent number: 7003529Abstract: The invention is directed to a system for adaptively identifying data to be stored in a document-processing system that includes an identification processor programmed for identifying the existence of a new and previously absent stored data object in at least one of a plurality of file directories. The identified new stored data object being associated with a particular medical entity, a decision processor programmed for comparing at least a portion of a filename of an identified new stored data object with stored predetermined filename data, and identifying a new stored data object containing data indexing information in response to a filename data match. A communication processor is programmed for providing communication among the identification processor, the decision processor and the document-processing system for processing an identified new stored data object containing data indexing information differently from other identified new stored data objects.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2002Date of Patent: February 21, 2006Assignee: Siemens Medical Solutions Health Services CorporationInventors: William D. Publication number: 20040128169Abstract: A system for monitoring activity of an executable application includes an input processor, an event processor, a monitoring processor, and an output processor. The input processor receives a message identifying an event representing activity performed by an executable application and containing data associated with the event. The event associated data includes a start and stop time of the event. The event processor stores a record of the identified event and the event associated data in a record repository. The monitoring processor selects particular events to use in monitoring a particular activity of the executable application in response to a received command. The output processor collates event-associated data, retrieved from the record repository, for the selected particular events, and processes and formats the collated event data for presentation to a user.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2003Publication date: July 1, 2004Inventor: William D.
