  • Publication number: 20030135947
Abstract: A cleaning mat system is designed for placement on a floor and for cleaning the undersides of shoes, feet, and other objects. The cleaning mat system includes a base with an upper surface and a lower surface interconnected by a perimeter edge. The perimeter edge includes a leading edge and an opposed trailing edge. The upper surface of the base includes upwardly extending teeth covering the majority of the upper surface, and the lower surface includes downwardly extending teeth on at least a portion of the lower surface adjacent the leading and trailing edges. A removable and disposable cleaning sheet has an upper face for cleaning and an opposed lower face. The cleaning sheet has a pair of spaced-apart side edge portions and a central portion. In use, the cleaning sheet is positioned on the base such that the central portion is adjacent the upper surface of the base and the side edge portions wrap around the leading and trailing edges to be trapped between the teeth and the floor.

  • Patent number: 6458442
Abstract: A cleaning mat according to the present invention is designed to be placed on a floor and to clean the undersides of shoes, feet, and other objects. The cleaning pad includes a base sheet, which is designed to rest on the floor. The base sheet has an upper surface and lower surface with the lower surface designed to contact the floor. Multiple removable and disposable cleaning sheets are supported in a stacked configuration on the upper surface of the base sheet. Each of the cleaning sheets includes an upper bibulous layer having an upper face. The bibulous layer is designed to absorb liquid from an object that contacts the upper face. Each cleaning sheet also includes a lower moisture barrier layer that has an upper face adjacent the bibulous layer. The barrier layer is operative to prevent transport of liquid from the bibulous layer to other cleaning sheets below the barrier layer.

  • Publication number: 20020083964
Abstract: A refill is designed for use with a mop of the type having a mop head with a lower surface and an opposed upper surface interconnected by a leading and a trailing edge. The mop head has a gripper device on its upper surface for retaining a cleaning sheet on the mop head. The refill includes a base layer with a front edge and an opposed rear edge, and a midportion between the front and rear edges. The base layer is designed to be wrapped about the mop head with the midportion adjacent to the lower surface of the mop head and the front and rear edges wrapping onto the upper surface of the mop head so as to be retained by the gripper. Multiple cleaning sheets are each removably supported on the midportion of the base layer in a stacked configuration. Each of the sheets has an outward face for cleaning and an opposed inward face. The outward face of each of the sheets is designed to contact a surface to be cleaned and to thereby become soiled.

  • Patent number: 6405403
Abstract: A cleaning tool for cleaning a surface has a core with a lower surface and an upper surface. A first set of cleaning sheets is each removably supported on the lower surface in a stacked configuration. Each of the sheets includes a bibulous layer and a moisture barrier layer. The moisture barrier layer prevents transport of liquid from one bibulous layer of one sheet to the bibulous layer of an adjacent sheet. Each of the sheets has an outward face for cleaning and an opposed inward face. The outward face of the sheets is designed to contact and clean a surface and thereby become soiled. Once the outward face of the outermost sheet becomes soiled, the sheet may be peeled away to expose a non-soiled sheet.

  • Patent number: 6353474
Abstract: An improved system and method for obtaining photogrammetric measurements which eliminates optical distortions created by thermal gradients on windows that are used to protect the photogrammetry camera. A gate valve is introduced between the window and the wall that opens for a limited time to allow the camera to take measurements of a test article contained within a thermal testing chamber. This limits or eliminates any thermal gradients on the window and improves photogrammetric measurements. With a gate valve the window can be removed entirely, as the gate valve can prevent a thermal gradient from being introduced to the lens of the photogrammetry camera. The improved system is suited for making close-in photogrammetric measures of test articles on earth.

  • Patent number: 6298517
Abstract: A mop for cleaning a floor includes a handle for a user to grip the mop and a mop head which is interconnected with the handle. The mop head has a lower surface and an upper surface, each of which have a side to side width and a back to front length. Multiple cleaning sheets are each removably supported on the lower surface in a stacked configuration. Each of the sheets has an outerward face for cleaning and an opposed inward face. The outward face of each of the sheets is configured for contacting and cleaning the floor causing them to become soiled. When the outward face of the outermost sheet becomes soiled, that sheet may be peeled away to expose a non-soiled sheet. In some embodiments, the mop head and the handle are pivotally interconnected. In other embodiments, the multiple cleaning sheets are maintained in the stacked relationship by a releasable adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5343880
Abstract: A fluid dispensing wand having a fluid reservoir removably attachable to a wand for applying a fluid such as hair oil, coloring, lightener, highlight, detangler, or conditioner to the hair. A fluid delivery means disperses fluid from the reservoir throughout the wand to effect even distribution of the fluid throughout the hair. The fluid delivery means comprises a series of conduits and/or a porous material. Teeth and/or fins are formed upon the wand such that the wand may be moved through the hair in a comb-like fashion to effect transfer of the fluid thereto. An absorbent covering may optionally be formed over the wand intermediate the teeth or fins to further enhance the even distribution of fluid. A plug or seal preferably closes the reservoir, thus providing a fluid cartridge. Thus, various cartridges may be installed upon the wand to effect application of various desired fluids to the hair.

  • Patent number: 5337764
Abstract: A dispensing comb for applying a fluid to the hair has a body with a plurality of teeth formed thereon and at least one, preferably two, fluid reservoirs removably attached to the body such that fluid communication is provided from the reservoirs to the teeth. The two reservoirs have thin seals which rupture when the two reservoirs are interconnected such that two different fluids contained therein intermix. Attachment of the two reservoirs to the comb body similarly causes the puncture of a seal to facilitate fluid communication of the mixed components through the comb to the teeth thereof. In a first embodiment, a pin disposed upon the first reservoir punctures a seal in the second reservoir and two fluids then intermix via a bore in the pin. A similar pin, disposed upon the body, punctures a similar seal in the first reservoir to effect fluid communication from of the mixture from the two reservoirs to the teeth of the comb.

  • Patent number: 5325878
Abstract: A fluid dispensing comb for applying a fluid to the hair has a body upon which a plurality of teeth are formed such that they are configured to have a V-shape, thereby defining a groove. An absorbent pad is disposed within the groove defined by the teeth and functions as a reservoir and application means for containing and dispensing a fluid such as hair oil, coloring, or conditioner to the hair. The absorbent pad is preferably replaceable and may be inserted into the groove of the teeth from the end of the comb, from the top of the comb, or alternatively by pivoting the teeth along a living hinge, formed at the apex or one end thereof. Alternatively, the absorbent pad may be permanently molded into the groove of the teeth. A cuff may optionally be disposed upon the comb to catch and/or absorb excess fluid which would otherwise tend to drip therefrom.

  • Patent number: 5305470
Abstract: A sports band for absorbing perspiration and for cooling the wearer is comprised of a band of elastic absorbent material, generally toroidal in shape, and is configured to be worn upon a person's head or wrist. The sports band has a slit formed upon its inner surface such that a flexible cold pack may be received thereby and disposed within the band. The sports band may alternatively be generally comprised of a comparatively inelastic material and have a strip of elastic material inserted as a portion of the band to provide the required stretchability. A layer of insulating material may optionally be formed along the inner layer of the generally toroidal band to reduce the rate of heat transfer between the wearer and the cold pack such that the sensation of cold is reduced and the useful life of the cold pack is increased.
