  • Patent number: 5561168
Abstract: This invention relates to the use of ion exchange resins having metal-exchanged thiol functional groups in removing iodide impurities from carboxylic acids and/or carboxylic acid anhydrides. More particularly, this invention provides a process for removing iodide impurities from liquid carboxylic acids and/or carboxylic acid anhydrides using ion exchange resins in which thiol functional groups have been exchanged with silver, palladium or mercury.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 14, 1993
Date of Patent: October 1, 1996
Assignee: Union Carbide Chemicals & Plastics Technology Corporation
Inventors: Barry B. Fish, William D. Prince, Michael P. Spratt
  • Patent number: 5308648
Abstract: A process for applying a polymer additive material to a polymeric substrate includes the steps of a) forming in a closed pressurized system a mixture of a solid polymer additive material, a suitable liquid carrier material, and a suitable viscosity reducing material, and b) spraying this mixture onto a polymeric substrate.

  • Patent number: 4857150
Abstract: A process for the recovery of silicone oil and chlorobenzenes from a mixture containing silicone oil, chlorobenzenes, and polychlorinated biphenyls comprising:(a) introducing the mixture into a distillation zone at a temperature and a pressure which will cause the chlorobenzenes to flash overhead and the mixture of silicone oil and polychlorinated biphenyls to pass to the bottom of the zone; and(b) removing the bottoms from step (a), cooling same, and passing the bottoms through at least one bed of activated carbon, which is an adsorbent for polychlorinated biphenyls.
    Type: Grant
