Abstract: Apparatus and an associated method is provided for facilitating paging of an access terminal in a radio communication system. A page message with partial identities is generated that includes an access sequence ID. The access sequence ID is used by the access terminal when responding to a page. The access terminal sends an access probe using the access sequence ID included in the page. The page message includes a message structure with partial identities where the access sequence ID is conditionally included. If the access terminal is to use a regular pool of access sequence IDs, the access terminal is not sent an access sequence ID in the page.

Abstract: A method for establishing a link key between correspondents in a public key cryptographic scheme, one of the correspondents being an authenticating device and the other being an authenticated device. The method also provides a means for mutual authentication of the devices. The authenticating device may be a personalized device, such as a mobile phone, and the authenticated device may be a headset. The method for establishing the link key includes the step of introducing the first correspondent and the second correspondent within a predetermined distance, establishing a key agreement and implementing challenge-response routine for authentication. Advantageously, main-in-the middle attacks are minimized.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for facilitating paging of a mobile station in a multi-user communication system. A page message is generated that includes page addresses of mobile stations that are to be paged. The page addresses are shortened addresses, if possible, that are selected to unambiguously identify the paged mobile stations. The page message includes page addresses of corresponding lengths and of unequal values.

Abstract: An exhaust duct comprises a shroud body, a forward flange assembly, an aft flange assembly, an intermediate flange assembly, and a first plurality of bleed ports. The forward flange assembly extends radially inward from a forward shroud end for securing the forward shroud end downstream of a final turbine stage. The aft flange assembly extends circumferentially around and radially inward from an aft shroud end for securing the aft shroud end to an engine tail cone. The intermediate flange assembly is disposed forward of the aft flange assembly, and extends circumferentially around and radially inward from the shroud body for securing the shroud body to an engine bearing housing. The first plurality of bleed ports is disposed around the shroud body forward of a junction with the intermediate flange.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for a gesture recognition interface system. The interface system may comprise a first and second light source positioned to illuminate a background surface. The interface system may also comprise at least one camera operative to receive a first plurality of images based on a first reflected light contrast difference between the background surface and a sensorless input object caused by the first light source and a second plurality of images based on a second reflected light contrast difference between the background surface and the sensorless input object caused by the second light source. The interface system may further comprise a controller operative to determine a given input gesture based on changes in relative locations of the sensorless input object in the first plurality of images and the second plurality of images. The controller may further be operative to initiate a device input associated with the given input gesture.

Abstract: An apparatus, and an associated method, for facilitating paging of an access terminal. A hash function is performed at a network entity to form a hash value. The hash value is utilized to identify a paging packet that is to be populated with paging information. Once formed, the paging packet is sent as part of a superframe of packets. The access terminal also performs the hash function to determine to where to hash to search for the paging information.

Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for facilitating paging of an access terminal operable in a radio communication system. The access terminal detects a first page message that does not include an access sequence identifier. The access terminal responds to the first page message without waiting for detection of a second page message that includes an access sequence ID. The response to the first page message includes an access sequence ID retrieved from a shared pool of access sequence IDs stored at the access terminal.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a manner by which to page an access terminal of a radio communication system to alert the access terminal of a pending call, or other communication. More particularly, the present invention relates to apparatus, and an associated method, that provides for the generation, sending, and analysis of a quick page message upon a paging channel, such as a QPCH (quick paging channel) defined in an exemplary cellular communication system. The page message is formed in a manner that reduces the likelihood of occurrence of false wakeup of an access terminal. Excessive battery depletion, as a result of false wakeup of the access terminal, is avoided.

Abstract: Individual participants in a multi-participant collaborative computing application may be sent intermittent updates of actions taken by other participants. These updates need not be sent to a participant's device until the participant has interacted with a specified object in the application. The participant's device may then be sent an update including object interactions of the other participants occurring since the participant's previous object interaction. The update may be used to periodically inform the participant of the actions taken by the other participants during the period between the participant's interactions.

Abstract: Techniques for controlling wireless network operations associated with a flow control process of a wireless network involving a data session established between a mobile station and a service node. The network processor examines quality of service (QoS) data associated with the data session. The network processor causes the flow control process to be bypassed for the mobile station based on the QoS data indicating that the data session is associated with a predetermined traffic class (e.g. background traffic class). This serves to prohibit the flow control process from stopping the flow of data packets in the data session without terminating the data session based on detection of an out-of-coverage condition. Otherwise, the network processor allows the flow control process to be performed for the mobile station based on the QoS data indicating that the data session is not associated with the predetermined traffic class.

Abstract: A method and system for improved buffering during a flow control event, the system comprising: a mobile station having a mobile timer; a radio network communicating wirelessly with the mobile station and including: a base station; and a packet control function (PCF) capable of interrupting the flow of data to the wireless device during the flow control event; a packet data serving node (PDSN) communicating with the PCF and having a buffer to store data received for the mobile station during the flow control event, the buffer having a buffer timer; and a push function communicating with the PDSN and having a retry timer to indicate when to resend an unacknowledged packet; wherein the system coordinates the buffer timer with either the mobile timer or the retry timer to eliminate redundant messages.

Abstract: A turbine engine includes a compressor section, a combustor section in fluid communication with the compressor section, a high pressure turbine in fluid communication with the combustor, a low pressure turbine in fluid communication with the high pressure turbine, and a mid turbine frame located axially between the high pressure turbine and the low pressure turbine. The mid turbine frame includes an outer frame case, an inner frame case, and a plurality of hollow spokes that distribute loads from the inner frame case to the outer frame case. The spokes are hollow to allow cooling airflow to be supplied through the spokes to the inner frame case.

Abstract: A method in a mobile device includes receiving an incoming call. An emergency signal, associated with an incoming call, is detected. The emergency signal indicates the incoming call is from an emergency call center. Responsive to detecting the emergency signal, the emergency call is automatically answered, and information identifying the incoming call as an emergency call is displayed on the mobile device.

Abstract: A technique for conserving power in a mobile communication device operative in a wireless communication network is described. The mobile device identifies a condition to change a parameter in the wireless communication network. However, the mobile device delays for a period of time until an expected message used for registration is to be sent to the wireless communication network. The mobile device provides the parameter within the expected message used for registration, and causes the expected message used for registration to be transmitted to the wireless communication network.

Abstract: In a water treatment system described in this specification, an ED device (which may be an EDR device) is combined with an ion exchange unit and a bipolar electrodialysis (BPED) device. The ion exchange unit, for example a weak acid cation exchange unit, is placed upstream of the ED device and removes divalent cations from the feed water to the ED device. The BPED device receives the salt-concentrated solution from the ED device and produces a regenerating solution. This regenerating solution is used to recharge the ion exchange unit when required. The regenerating solution may be an acidic solution.

Abstract: In accordance with the teachings described herein, systems and methods are provided for always-on wireless IP communication. An access provider network (APN) that includes an always-on packet data serving node (PDSN) may be used to communicate over a wireless communication link with a mobile station. The PDSN may include an inactivity timer and may be used to set the inactivity timer to an inactivity timer starting value and send a starting value estimate to the mobile station over the wireless communication link, wherein the starting value estimate is a function of the inactivity timer starting value. The mobile station may include an inactivity timer estimate and may be used to receive the starting value estimate and set the inactivity timer estimate to the starting value estimate. The mobile station may also be used to reset the inactivity timer estimate to the starting value estimate when the mobile station communicates with the APN.

Abstract: A scheme for facilitating accelerated network selection by a wireless user equipment (UE) device. In one exemplary embodiment, the wireless UE device includes means for manipulating a search sequence order relating to a system acquisition database structure that is associated with the wireless UE device, the manipulation based at least in part upon how long the wireless UE device was in power off condition. Also included is means for locating a network via scanning based upon the acquisition database responsive to the manipulation.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for assisting a user in creating a process diagram according to a specific methodology. A template library includes a plurality of entities associated with the methodology. Each of the plurality of entities has an associated one of a plurality of entity categories. A user interface allows a user to insert entities from the library into the process diagram and insert connections between the entities to show logical relationships between the entities. A graphical engine generates an optimal arrangement of the entities within the process diagram according to at least one characteristic of a plurality of entities and at least one connector associated with the process diagram and at least one optimization criteria when a user inserts an entity or connection. The graphical engine is operative to animate a transition between an original arrangement and the optimal arrangement.

Abstract: An electronic commerce system includes a host with two-way communication to a plurality of distributors. Each of these distributors offers an addressable inventory of merchandise that consists of discrete items. The host sorts the discrete items according to a class designation such that members of a same class are assigned a unique tag. A store builder may electronically request at least one of the unique tags. The host then creates a customized store with a unique name, look and feel, and product selection for the store builder. This store provides a consumer with access, via said distributor, to items assigned that unique tag.
