Patent number: 11805178Abstract: Methods and systems may include, at a computing device comprising a memory and a processor coupled to the memory, identifying entry of an electronic device within a geographic boundary and launching a session for a user of the electronic device in response to entry of the electronic device. The session may be inaccessible to the user at startup of the session. The method may further include, at the computing device, providing access to the session after startup of the session, and terminating the session based on exiting of the electronic device from the geographic boundary.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2021Date of Patent: October 31, 2023Inventors: Thomas Root, Christopher Coy Fife, Jiayin Tian, Brian J Ehlert, William Deforeest, Christopher S Witeck

Patent number: 11201927Abstract: A computing device may include a memory and a processor coupled to the memory. The processor may be configured to identify entry of an electronic device within a geographic boundary, and pre-launch a session for a user of the electronic device in response to identification of entry of the electronic device, with the session being inaccessible to the user at a time of startup of the session. The processor may be further configured to provide access to the session with use of the electronic device upon entry of the electronic device within the geographic boundary and based on an identifier of the user.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2020Date of Patent: December 14, 2021Assignee: CITRIX SYSTEMS, INC.Inventors: Thomas Root, Christopher Coy Fife, Jiayin Tian, Brian J Ehlert, William DeForeest, Christopher S Witeck

Patent number: 10721316Abstract: A virtualization server may include a memory and a processor cooperating therewith to determine when electronic devices associated with respective different users enter within a virtual geographic boundary, and pre-launch unauthenticated user-specific virtual computing sessions for respective users based upon determining that the electronic devices for the respective users have entered within the virtual geographic boundary. The processor may further authenticate the pre-launched user-specific virtual computing sessions based upon unique identifiers associated with the users and the respective electronic devices being within the virtual geographic boundary.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2017Date of Patent: July 21, 2020Assignee: CITRIX SYSTEMS, INC.Inventors: Thomas Root, Christopher Coy Fife, Jiayin Tian, Brian J Ehlert, William Deforeest, Christopher S Witeck

Patent number: 10019177Abstract: A method and system for updating a collection of software resources in a virtual desktop infrastructure system. Virtual machines associated with sets of virtual disk elements in a hierarchy of disk layers, such as basic, department, or user virtual disks are offered updates for one or more available software resources. Updates available for deployment in the virtual desktop infrastructure system are recorded in a database by a controller server. The controller server takes an inventory of all the virtual machines associated with each disk layer in the hierarchy of disk layers on which to apply the available updates. The controller server applies the one or more updates to the identified virtual machines, and stores the update application results in a database. The controller server may apply the one or more updates to virtual machines associated with descendant disk layers in the hierarchy of disk layers in view of previous applications of the updates.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2015Date of Patent: July 10, 2018Assignee: Citrix Systems, Inc.Inventors: Michael Larkin, Shashikiran Uli, William Deforeest

Patent number: 9235801Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for using machine learning (e.g., neural networks and/or combinatorial learning) to solve the non-linear problem of predicting the provisioning of a server farm (e.g., cloud resources). The machine learning may be performed using commercially available products, such as the SNNS product from The University of Stuttgard of Germany. The system, which includes a neural network for machine learning, is provided with an identification of inputs and outputs to track, and the system provides correlations between those. Rather than static rules, the machine learning provides dynamic provisioning recommendations with corresponding confidence scores. Based on the data collected/measured by the neural network, the provisioning recommendations will change as well as the confidence scores.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: January 12, 2016Assignee: Citrix Systems, Inc.Inventors: Thomas Portegys, William DeForeest
