  • Patent number: 9234801
Abstract: A method is provided for forming multiple-LED (light-emitting-diode) light emitters from a plurality of LEDs, wherein the number of LEDs in each emitter is an integer M. The method includes providing a plurality of LEDs, each of the LEDs characterized by a first parameter and a second parameter, which are related to color coordinates CIEx and CIEy in a chromaticity diagram. • Patent number: 5605736
Abstract: Belt weatherstrip moulding for motor vehicles or other motor vehicle trim may be made of separate inner and outer components. The inner component may be a base component which is extruded in a flexible material such as an elastomeric material which may be rubber or rubbery materials and which partially envelops an elongate core which is rigid with respect to the extruded material. Preferably the core is aluminum or less preferably stainless steel, galvanized steel or zinc coated steel or it may be a rigid thermoplastic material. The elongate core has an exposed face for attachment to the outer moulding. The outer component is an outer decorative skin and is an injection moulding, preferably polyurethane, although other plastics material may be used. The inner and outer mouldings are adhered together through double sided adhesive tape.

  • Patent number: 5541574
Abstract: A tire transponder system seats a transponder coil in a flexible resilient tube that is positioned around a vehicle wheel. The transponder antenna is lodged in a groove that extends around the tube, and responds to an excitation signal by transmitting a signal that contains identification information and/or information on the tire condition. For tire condition information, a diode is connected in circuit with the transponder coil to double the frequency of the signal returned by the transponder. A switch that is connected to bypass the diode is operated by a tire condition sensor, such as a pressure sensor, when the sensed condition crosses a threshold level in a predetermined direction. The change in the frequency of the transponder's returned signal when the threshold has been crossed is used to activate a response such as a low tire pressure alarm.

  • Patent number: 5461385
Abstract: An improved identification system that employs a novel radio frequency (RF) transponder. The RF transponder comprises a plurality of integrated circuit transponder chips, an RF transmit antenna coupled to an RF output of each of the transponder chips, and a sensor coupled to each of the plurality of transponder chips. A sensor switch is coupled between each of the transponder chips and the RF transmit antenna. The plurality of transponder chips may be individually programmed with different information, or identical information except for one bit. A code reader is coupled to an RF receive antenna for processing data transmitted by the transponder. The transponder is used to transfer information to the code reader relating to an item to which the sensor or transponder is coupled and the condition of the sensor switch. Transmission is accomplished by way of an RF communications link using the RF transmit and receive antennas.

  • Patent number: 4989703
Abstract: An all-hydraulic brake release system is disclosed for use on a vehicle having a transmission fluid pressure source, a brake fluid pressure source and a spring-applied, fluid pressure-released vehicle brake. The system has a control valve block which is hydraulically connected to the transmission fluid pressure source, the brake fluid pressure source and the brake. A first, transmission clutch pressure-responsive valve in the block controls the fluid connection between the brake fluid pressure source and the vehicle brake. A second, brake fluid pressure-responsive valve in the block controls the communication of brake fluid pressure to a pilot end of the first valve. If either brake fluid pressure or transmission clutch pressure falls below respective predetermined values, the first valve closes to cut off the supply of brake fluid pressure to the brake such that the brake is applied to stop vehicle movement.

  • Patent number: 4744914
Abstract: An improved electric field dependent fluid and method of preparing the same for use at temperatures in excess of 100.degree. C. (typically 120.degree. C.) without releasing water comprising: a nonconductive liquid phase; and a dispersed particulate crystalline zeolite phase (e.g., M.sub.(x/n) [AlO.sub.2).sub.x (SiO.sub.2).sub.y ] wH.sub.2 O where M is a metal cation or mixture of metal cations of average valence charge n, x and y are integers and the ratio of y to x is from about 1 to about 5, and w is a variable). Such field dependent fluids are particularly useful in automotive and/or other high temperatures applications.

  • Patent number: 4554411
Abstract: A communication system includes a master control with optional inside, door or patio remote units, door chime, phone coupler, or programming such as radio, phonograph, tape player or the like. The inside remote units and the master control are connected to common lines including an audio line, control line, and talk-listen line. The remote units signal the master control on the control line by one of five voltage levels selected by depressing intercom talk, door talk, phone talk, or end-call push button switches. Tri-state signals on the talk-listen line from the master control operation of speaker circuits and microphone circuits in the units wherein the units other than the calling unit are automatically operated for hands-free answering during a timer period after release of an intercom talk switch.

  • Patent number: RE29660
Abstract: A process is described wherein an N-channel silicon gate device operates from a single voltage supply. This process includes an ion implantation step into the gate region of both the load and switch devices for adjusting upwards the threshold voltage of such N-channel silicon gate load and switch devices. This ion implantation of the gate region utilizes the dosage and ion implant energy as factors in determining the change in the threshold voltage. The ion implantation is in a region essentially at the surface of the gate region and as such appears to be a change in the Q.sub.ss term of the device. The effect of the ion implantation is to increase upwards the threshold voltage of the structure as compared with the expected threshold voltage based on the resistivity level of the starting material of the wafer. The overall effect of this process is to provide an active device having a higher output voltage than can be expected from using the starting resistivity material.
