  • Patent number: 8481963
Abstract: Described herein is an ion slicer that: a) accelerates an ion beam towards a first electrode comprising an ion entrance slit, where the first electrode blocks a portion of ions with high displacement from the axis of the ion beam, thereby slicing the ion beam; and then b) decelerates the ion beam after it is sliced.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 27, 2012
Date of Patent: July 9, 2013
    Assignee: Agilent Technologies, Inc.
Inventors: Harvey D. Loucks, Jr., James L. Bertsch, Michael Ugarov, William E. Barry, Yevgeny Kaplun
  • Publication number: 20120217388
Abstract: Provided herein is a bladed ion slicer for blocking ions in an ion beam that have significant distance from the beam axis. In certain embodiments, the bladed ion slicer comprises a body; a first elongated blade; and a second elongated blade; wherein the ion slicer comprises a slit that extends through the body through which ions pass and wherein the edges of the first and second elongated blades define the entrance of the slit and are pointing towards the ion beam. A mass spectrometer system and method for removing unwanted ions are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20100059429
Abstract: A filtering apparatus, for preventing contaminants of water from entering a pool from a pool inlet having a screw-on cap, includes a stretchable elongated member and a securing member. The stretchable elongated member includes an open end portion, a closed end portion, and a body portion extending between the open end portion and the closed end portion. Further, the securing member is coupled to a periphery of the open end portion. The securing member is capable of being disposed on a peripheral edge of the pool inlet to enable removable coupling of the stretchable elongated member to the peripheral edge of the pool inlet via the screw-on cap for enabling accumulation of the contaminants of water in the stretchable elongated member.

  • Patent number: 6922888
Abstract: An attachment for a tool used to attach and remove load break elbows and protective caps from bushings disposed on a transformer is provided. The tool attachment includes an elbow engaging member that is positionable around a load break elbow or cap fixed to a bushing. The engagement member is fixedly secured to a horizontal bar that includes a number of aligned openings extending through the bar. These openings are selectively alignable with a pair of openings disposed on a vertical bar to pivotally attach the vertical and horizontal bars to one another. The vertical bar also includes an opening through which a pulling eye on the elbow or cap can extend when the tool attachment is positioned on the elbow or cap.

  • Patent number: 6484982
Abstract: A step assembly is provided that can be easily slipped into a utility pole opening and locked in place, and then easily removed after use. The step assembly includes 1) a step member having first and second legs, which are connected at one end and open at the opposite end and 2) a lever member that is rotatably attached to the step member and that urges the first and second legs apart. The free end of the legs include tabs protruding upwardly. The step assembly is inserted into the utility pole opening by pressing the legs toward each other. The step assembly is then inserted into the opening. The legs are released such that the legs spread apart and press against the opening's sides. The lever member is then rotated, forcing the enlarged portion between the legs of the step assembly to lock the step assembly in place.
