    Abstract: An article identification label and method of article identification is disclosed for labelling portable articles used by humans. The label includes a tag affixed to a surface of the article and containing identifying indicia visible to the naked eye. A transparent coating which is adapted to withstand wear from frequent and prolonged usage of the article substantially covers the tag. The coating may be formed when a hardenable liquid, such as a light-curing adhesive, is applied to the tag and allowed to cure or harden.
