William E. Cribb has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 4948440
Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus for the manufacture of a coarse emulsion blasting agent and a method for the conversion of same into a sensitive blasting explosive. The apparatus comprises a low shear mechanical mixer in which a coarse emulsion can be continuously prepared. The coarse emulsion is then passed though a fine emulsification motionless mixer for conversion into sensitive explosive.

  • Patent number: 4829902
Abstract: A method is provided for loading upwardly extending boreholes in rock with flowable bulk explosives. An explosives loading pipe, an air exhaust pipe and an initiating booster charge with associated initiator are located in the borehole so that the booster and the pipe ends are located deep within the borehole. The ends of the pipes and the initiator are pressed through one or more channels in a cylindrical plug wedged in the borehole opening. Stemming material is first placed in the borehole through the loading pipe to lie against the plug and thereafter the bulk explosive is introduced to fill the borehole. Entrapped air is exhausted through the exhaust pipe.

  • Patent number: 4461660
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for the efficient and safe manufacture of batch quantities of non-cap-sensitive emulsion explosives. The method employs none of the high shear mixing or homogenizing techniques of the prior art and hence hazards from heat and mechanical breakdown (impact) are eliminated. The method consists of tumbling the oil phase of the emulsion in a rotating, internally baffled mixer and slowly adding thereto the aqueous phase. The resulting emulsion explosive is detonable by boostering in large diameter charges.

  • Patent number: 4199262
Abstract: A mobile mixing and delivery apparatus for bulk slurry explosive compositions is provided. The apparatus comprises a vehicle body upon which is mounted a rotatable drum mixer. Explosive ingredients are fed into the mixer, mixed and then delivered close to the point of use where they are pumped through a hose into boreholes. Provision is made for the addition of thickness or other additives to the slurry during pumping.
