  • Patent number: 4089439
Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing fibers for use in the making of fibrous concrete is disclosed in which the fibers are dispensed from an elongated web which has been coiled with the fibers placed within the layers of the coils. The individual concrete reinforcing fibers are deposited in a uniform layer on an elongated web, which is then coiled to form a package. The dispensing device supports a spindle on which the coiled package is placed. The end of the coil of the package is wound around a second spindle which is driven by a rotary motor, and as the web is progressively uncoiled and wound around this second spindle, the fibers are discharged from between the convolutions of the coil.

  • Patent number: 4066723
Abstract: A method of producing a fiber reinforced concrete structure of desired thickness including the steps of extruding a sheet of concrete substantially free of fibers, distributing an effective amount of reinforcing fibers on the sheet, repeating the foregoing steps until the desired thickness is approached and before the concrete sheets have set up, and extruding a further sheet of substantially fiber-free concrete over the structure resulting from the foregoing steps to achieve the desired thickness. The amount of fiber distributed over each sheet may be varied to concentrate the fiber in the areas where the greatest stress concentration is expected. Also disclosed is an apparatus for performing the method.

  • Patent number: 4023706
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of mixing fiber reinforced concrete without the formation of fiber balls therein. The method includes the steps of depositing a uniform layer of substantially individual concrete reinforcing fibers on an elongated web, coiling the web to contain the fibers, locating the coiled web in proximity to a concrete mixing device, and progressively uncoiling the web at a predetermined rate to discharge the layer of fibers therefrom into the mixer. Also disclosed is a unique package for concrete reinforcing fibers for use in connection with the above method.
