  • Patent number: 4847409
Abstract: A method for the isolation of a substantially pure L-isomer of an amino acid from its D,L racemic mixture does not require the use of a resolving agent, the formation of a derivative of the amino acid or additional enzymic reactions. The method is based upon the concept of the equal saturation point wherein the L-isomer can be separated from the D-isomer by precipitation of the L-isomer when the relative concentration of the D-isomer is less than 7.0% or by precipitation of the D,L racemate when the relative concentration is greater than 7.0%. Selective crystallization through seeding allows for further isolation of pure L-isomer when its relative concentration in solution is very low.

  • Patent number: 4442695
Abstract: A tool for bending conduit comprises a body that has a bottom shoe portion which is curved along its length and in which there is a downwardly opening groove that is symmetrical across its width to a plane of symmetry, a tubular handle supporting socket projecting up from the shoe with its axis in said plane, and a hook portion in front of the shoe. Integral ridges on the body define sighting lines contained in a plane parallel to said plane of symmetry, each such line designating attainment of a predetermined bend angle when it is perpendicular to a supporting surface. The ridges define upper line segments on the socket that diverge downwardly from a point on the axis about which the shoe is lengthwise curved and lower line segments on the shoe that are lengthwise aligned with respective upper line segments.

  • Patent number: 4126503
Abstract: Pharmaceutical dosage forms comprising an edible web having deposited thereon or at least partially thereon a particulate medicament, the webs being thereafter fabricated and finished to pharmaceutically elegant solid dosage forms having no medicament exposed on an exterior surface. The dosage forms have a consistency of release of medicament which can be controlled to exacting specifications. The disclosed solid dosage forms are prepared by high speed automated equipment and the process by which they are made is characterized by non-destructive quality control analysis and performance evaluation both conducted on-line and integrated into the manufacturing operation. Included in the scope of the disclosed invention are certain apparatus and methods of manufacture.
