    Abstract: Cans sealed with removable pressure-sensitive adhesive tape tabs over a pour hole successfully contain carbonated beverages or other pressure-generating liquids if the area around the pour hole and under the tape is slightly elevated, thereby putting the tape in shear rather in peel. Circular can ends may be provided with a circular pour hole, taped and then shaped to impart a frusto-conical area around the pour hole before being crimped over the tubular can body.
