  • Patent number: 5361786
Abstract: The method of reforming fingernail or toenail surface that includes providing an undulating multi-beadlike glass surface on a substrate; and reciprocating the glass surface against the nail surface while applying pressure thereto via the substrate and the glass surface, thereby to reform the nail surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 26, 1993
Date of Patent: November 8, 1994
    Inventor: William E. Pangburn
  • Patent number: 4712552
Abstract: An abrasive and cushioned composite comprising:(a) a tough, stretchable first sheet of silicone polymer,(b) abrasive particulate adherent to and protruding from at least one side of the first sheet,(c) other sheet means providing a cushioned support for said first sheet and combined therewith.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 23, 1986
Date of Patent: December 15, 1987
    Assignee: William W. Haefliger
    Inventor: William E. Pangburn
  • Patent number: 4621465
Abstract: In a nail file, the combination comprising(a) an elongated holder having an elongated handle, consisting of synthetic resin, said holder having relatively thin, upper and lower elongated flanges and an elongated medial web interconnecting the flanges adapting the flanges to flex relative to the web,(b) a resiliently flexible first sheet having an abrasive surface,(c) the sheet retained to one of the flanges so that said abrasive surface is outwardly presented, whereby the sheet when pressed against a fingernail flexes along with said one flange and assumes the contour of the fingernail, the sheet being elongated in the direction of the handle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 16, 1985
Date of Patent: November 11, 1986
    Inventor: William E. Pangburn
  • Patent number: 4572222
Abstract: The method of wet etching a natural or artificial fingernail, that includes:(a) providing a tough, flexible sheet of silicone polymer, the sheet carrying abrasive particulate protruding from at least one side of the sheet, and(b) rubbing a side of the wet sheet against the surface of the wet fingernail.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 13, 1982
Date of Patent: February 25, 1986
    Assignee: William W. Haefliger
    Inventor: William E. Pangburn
  • Patent number: 4534138
Abstract: A nail file comprises:(a) an elongated holder having an elongated handle,(b) a resiliently flexible sheet having an abrasive surface,(c) and clamping structure on the holder retaining the sheet to the handle so that sheet loosely wraps at least partly about the holder with a gap between the sheet of the holder, whereby the sheet wrap when pressed against a fingernail assumes the contour of the fingernail, the sheet wrap being elongated in the direction of the handle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 19, 1983
Date of Patent: August 13, 1985
    Inventor: William E. Pangburn
  • Patent number: 4459987
Abstract: A flexible cosmetic abrasive sheet comprises(a) a tough, flexible sheet of silicone polymer,(b) abrasive particulate carried by and protruding from at least one side of the sheet and exposed for rubbing contact with human skin during use of the sheet.A layer of reticulated, resiliently compressible foam may be attached to the abrasive sheet, for light dermabrasion.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 10, 1982
Date of Patent: July 17, 1984
    Assignee: William W. Haefliger
    Inventor: William E. Pangburn
  • Patent number: 4172461
Abstract: A device usable to aid attachment of an artificial fingernail to a natural fingernail comprises:(a) a form having a upwardly convex surface and defining an arcuate rearward edge shaped for reception under the forward edge portion of the natural nail, and(b) a holder having two laterally spaced tines respectively supporting lower portions of the form, said tines being bendable into selected set configuration,(c) the holder including generally tab shaped finger grips integral with said tines and adapted to resiliently grip opposite portions of a finger or thumb carrying said natural nail to support the form in a position wherein said form rearward edge is retained under said forward edge portion of the natural nail and adjacent thereto.
