  • Patent number: 5226326
Abstract: A vibration chamber for screening or testing printed circuit boards by subjecting the printed circuit boards to acoustical vibrations which are generated by top and bottom speakers which face each other, with the printed circuit boards between the speakers. The top and bottom speakers are arranged in a "push-pull" configuration so that the speakers cooperate with one another in pushing air up and down in the vertical plane, thus imparting maximum acoustical energy to both sides (top and bottom) of the printed circuit board under test. The vibration chamber can be mated to a roller conveyor system for automatically running printed circuit boards through the vibration chamber in a production environment, and the speaker system can be driven by a profile of random vibration noise to achieve the maximum number of modes of vibration on the printed circuit board in the minimum amount of time.
